- NubailahPutrajaya, Malaysia32 contributionsFor seafood loversthe location was about 0.5 km from the exit of the Noryangjin metro station. Just walk to straight ahead from the right of the exit and you'll find a signage to the market via a tunnel/underground pass. The price of seafood as expected are the most expensive during winter but the seller will usually add some free seafood together with what you bought. I think the stall has its own pre-assigned restaurants to cook your seafood, hence it is easier to buy all you wanted to be cooked from the same stall/seller. Easier to negotiate price as well. The restaurant is in the second floor but i found that the price to cook is quite expensive based on what i paid recently (it was mostly either plain barbeque/ simple spicy dish). Maybe you'll find it cheaper at other restaurant. There are shop selling meat as well and the price of wagyu beef is quite cheap (of course not halal). Most seafood sold are fresh and some are still alive.Visited January 2020Written 20 January 2020
- EricSingapore, Singapore110 contributionsGreat day out in the fish market with a fantastic lunch.Visited store #007 and bought a 1.5kg king crab and various types of clams for 75,000 won which I thought was reasonable. The lady owner gave additional clams and prawns. We were brought to a restaurant on the 5th floor which had photos of various celebrities which, presumably, dined there previously. The king crab was steamed and tasted absolutely fabulous - flesh was sweet and firm. The clams and prawns were cooked in a light broth style which was delicious. All in, cooking charges and soju was 35,000 which is fair, IMO.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 June 2023
- kappelzwergFellbach, Germany311 contributionsNice place and nice foodWe went on a Wednesday morning to the Noryangjin Fish Market. It was not crowds and we really enjoyed our visit. You can purchase the fish on the ground floor (1st floor Korean naming convention) and it is prepared on the 2nd floor. It is absolutely impressive. On weekends it might be crowds.Visited April 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2022

The market is easy to find. And it has fresh seafood that you buy and tell them to cook them for you at the second floor where all the restaurants located.

Fresh seafood market with lots of options and restaurants to cook for you. We were there for dinner and enjoyed the fresh seafood in one of their upstairs restaurants which we were guided to after picking out what we wanted.
The restaurant was busy, but had plenty of staff working there so service was good at 또순이 which is a 24/7 place. We started with the fresh sashimi and finished with the large king crab - good chucks of crab meat.

KOREA - SEOUL - NORYANJIN SEAFOOD WHOLESALE MARKET - DISHONEST SEAFOOD MARKET STALL (02-52) AND DISHONEST "GEUMHAK SASHIMI RESTAURANT"
Market STALL ADDRESS : 02-52
Restaurant Details :
Geumhak Sashimi Restaurant
Noryanjin Seafood Wholesale Market 2
674 Nodeul-ro, Dongjak, Seoul
Restaurant Owner :
BYUNGYEON LEE
Our PRC Chinese chartered car driver brought us to this seafood stall (unit no. 2-52) operated by a young 30 year old PRC Chinese lady to be FLEECED. The stall holder charged us 100,000 won / kg for the crab type we chose. We paid 150, 000 won for a 1.5 kg crab. We also bought 20,000 won of cockles. The stall operater then brought us to a restaurant where the cooking fee was exorbitant. Obviously the restaurant needs to charge higher prices to give kick backs to the seafood stall operator who brought us there.
Cost of seafood from seafood market stall :
Crab - 150,000 won
(1.5 kg @ 100,000 won per kg)
Cockles - 20,000 won
(A plateful of about 20 pieces of average sized cockles)
Total : 170,000 won
The restaurant charged 40,000 won to boil a whole 1.5 kg crab, with no service provided to chop up the crab for easy consumption.
Then they charged 30,000 won to boil cockles (cost of cockles was only 20,000 won) - that’s all the restaurant did.
Restaurant Bill Breakdown :
Crab cooking fee - 40,000 won
Cockles cooking fee - 30,000 won
Beer - 6,000 won
Cover charge for 2 pax - 10,000 won
Total : 86,000

We discovered that we were cheated after we checked on another seafood stall after dinner on our own. This time without the presence of the scheming driver.
The price quoted for the crab was half of what we bought and the crab was visibly firmer and fresher. That means, 50,000 won per kg (instead of 100,000 won per kg) and the second operator offered to give a small discount when we were leaving.
This practise of over-charging foreigners at the Noryanjin Seafood Wholesale Market leaves a very BAD IMPRESSION on us.
We were very angry about the whole incident. That's why we decided to share this incident to warn others to be careful when visiting this seafood market.
We checked with friends and found out that many had been fleeced likewise in this seafood market. BEWARE !!!

It was the first time visiting Seoul. I wanted to try ordering seafood and then have the seafood prepared upstairs. No joke. We bought a King crab, a couple abalone, a huge prawn, and scallops, and a handful of clams. We follow one of the guys up to the fifth floor. After about 5 minutes, the banchan was served. After another five minutes out comes the clams and scallops. As we were munching on this, my husband’s prawn comes out and is the size of my forearm. The crab is ginourmis and feeds the four of us. Afterwards, the crabby shell gets cut out and five minutes later appeared some of the best fried rice I’ve had in a long time; super crabby flavor. We didn’t gorge but felt pretty full leaving the place. An easy subway ride.

Visit stall 12 and paid about 100,000 won for a 1.5kg Alaskan king crab, four medium-sized abalone, two small octopuses and some (complimentary) large clams. The price was certainly reasonable as the crab was v fresh!
The restaurant that prepared the food was slightly pricey at about 85,000 won for a family of four. Apart from the preparation of the food and side dishes, there was an additional fried rice, one soju and one beer. However, to be fair, the prices were transparent as they had a price board that stated everything upfront.
Would still go again as the seafood is just amazing.

Came back to Seoul after covid to enjoy the freshness of the sea, we bought them at good prices from the wholesale market but the nightmare came when we were brought upstairs to the restaurant for the cooking. We are aware that there will be a cooking fee for the service but we were not expecting one cooking fee for each type and per kg applies. Eg: one piece of fish, half cooked by steaming and the other by bbq. The charges for each method applies. See the new charging fees attached. Paid 87,000won for one fish, 4 pieces of medium size abalone, 4 pieces of mussels-like, and a handful of cockles. Cooking fees>>> 60,000won. Judge for yourselves if this worth it all!!!

This place is full of fresh seafood and the price is reasonable. But do check few stalls first before making your decision, stall owner will try to upsell you but you can just chill and slowly make your decision although they will get angry sometimes. Lol. I think is a must visit place if it's your first time to seoul.

One of the best places to visit in Seoul is Noryangjin Fish Market, Korea's largest seafood markets. It’s like an aquarium where you can eat the exhibits. Unlike a lot of fish markets around the world, many of the fish are still alive in tanks. Because of that, it doesn’t smell as unpleasant as other markets.

Tourist trap!!! Fresh seafood and lots of it. Great selection but if you have it prepared at a restaurant upstairs, it’s outrageously expensive. Charge 30,000 wan to grill 4 prawns and way over cooked.
There only seems to be two ways to cook the seafood, steam or grill. Not much flavour. What a shame with all the seafood they have at the site!!
Cool place to visit but not eating there.

Hi, We are a couple from Nepal with one grown up daughter of 17yo. I mean, we are just 3. After reading some reviews that the restaurant on 2nd floor do not entertain a group with less number of people, I am confused either to visit this place or not. Even more, out of 3 of us, I am the only one who loves sea food and my wife and daughter merely may try some or not..so purchasing sea food here and cooking at upstairs with high cost won't suit for us, I guess.
I am wondering if some restaurants sell some cooked sea food, where we can choose and pay like in any other restaurant. Visiting this place just to see raw sea food and come back without trying/eating anything there is not worth, I guess. So, either to visit or not depends on, if there are some ready restaurants who sells cooked sea food. Please help.
Thank you so much.
Deepak.
