Cable car Ride
Jun 2021
It starts from Rike park and takes you up the mountain. You can visit both the Narikala Fortress and the mother of Georgia statue. Also a good view of the botanical gardens close to the fortress. The cable car ride is 2.50 Gel per way per pax. and the amount can be used through your transport card (Transport card is 2 Gel a card and can have multiple users). Short ride up but very scenic.

Breathtaking View
Apr 2021 • Friends
Visited in May 2021 luckily on my last day of tiblisi it was started again as lockdown timing is extended till 11 PM in Georgia. The view was breaking. The ride was comfy with jaw dropping view of the city, bridge of peace and tiblisi. Ticket cost 3 Gel per side for per person and it was simply worth paying for. Loved it
How to reach there it depends where you are. As it was on the walking distance from my hotel so we hardly walked 5 mins to reach there.

A short journey
Feb 2020
It only takes a few minutes to reach the top of the hill. Of course it's a lot easier to take the ride rather than climbing, though you will take your climbing later. The views over the city are very nice and definitely worth the climb. Highly recommended

Must ride!
Feb 2020
Tbilisi’s Aerial Tramway (Cable Car) is a very fun ride, and it is a quick way up the hill to visit the Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda) and the Narikala Fortress, it costs less than 1$, and you can pay with your Transport card which you can also use for the public transport system including busses & the metro.
I recommend going up the hill using the cable car, visit the mother of Georgia & the Narikala Fortress, then go down from the other side through the lovely National Botanical Garden of Tbilisi city, You can also go down using the zipline in the Botanical Garden.

aerial tram

The aerial tram is worth doing and the line is not long. I would definitely ride it again and saves you a walk up hill.

Scary, but worth the views

The tram was very cool! We hiked up to the Fortress, and took the tramway down. It was terrifying, but was very beautiful views. Would definitely recommend it one way, and to walk the other.

All the way up to Narikala Fortress and Mother Georgia!
Sep 2019
While visiting Tbilisi, its "Aerial Tramway" is the best option to reach "Narikala" and "Kartlis Deda", both protecting guardians of the city and its inhabitants. "Narikala" is a 4th century fortress, with impressive walls and courtyards. "Kartlis Deda" is commonly known as "Mother Georgia" and marks the 1500th Anniversary of Tbilisi. The monumental aluminum 20m high sculpture, by Georgian artist Elguja Amashukeli (the same sculptor of the nearby equestrian "Monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasali"), dates from 1958 and depicts a woman with a bowl of wine in one hand for all those that came in peace. At her other hand, a sword for all enemies! Board one of the modern cable cars and after a short 10 minute ride you'll reach "Narikala Fortress", at the inexpensive fee of Lari 2,5 per person. It is strongly recommended to visit in late afternoon, waiting Tbilisi's lights to be on. Awesome views" Enjoy!

Birds eye view of the old city and visiting the mother of Georgia! There is a few walk trails down the mountain to explore. Nice start to explore Georgia!
