A huge Orthodox Christian Cathedral
Mar 2020
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, which is known as Tsminda Sameba Cathedral was constructed in 2004, becoming the main & biggest Orthodox Christian Cathedral in Georgia, I also read that it is one of the largest religious buildings in the world.
This site is included in some tours inside Tbilisi.

One of the most AMAZING cathedrals I have ever visited during my travels around the world.
Jan 2020
Today the Tsminda Sameba Cathedral is the main church of Georgia and the seat of the Patriarch of the Georgian Church. Established to specify 1500 years of the Georgian Orthodox Church and was inaugurated in 2004. Thousands of donations were raised for building the church from businessmen as well as the common people. Inside the foundations of the impressive structure were buried items brought from holy sites in the "Holy Land" in addition to stones collected from the tombs of saints from monasteries throughout Georgia. The exterior structure of the cathedral is most impressive, and its inner space is decorated with an abundance of murals, engravings, and stunning icons.
Highly recommended, NOT 2 B MISSED.

Modern and Imposing
May 2019
Located on a hill in the historic Avlabari district, the expansive church is one of the largest churches in the world. It was built on the site of an earlier structure which was destroyed during the Soviet era and is surrounded by a large paved area which itself is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The tall building rises in three levels and is topped by a golden dome. A golden cross sits on top of the dome.

The building is located at an elevation and accessed through a wide and imposing staircase. Inside, the building is beautifully decorated with frescos, chandeliers, paintings and repousse silver artwork. There are several chapels inside the cathedral - some of them underground. Outside, the complex contains many other buildings including a bell tower, a monastery, a gazebo, residence of the patriarch, workshops, fountains etc.

The church is impressive and definitely worth a visit.

Grand cathedral
Mar 2020 • Solo
The cathedral is made up of 2 churches, 1 at the top and one in the basement. The church is very modern, grand, spacious and towers over all buildings in its immediate area. Its more than 90m tall. But there are many beggars nearby which spoils it a little bit

Great Views
Sep 2019
I visited on a gorgeous afternoon. It is very high up the hill and we took a taxi (good idea). The views from the Cathedral are amazing whether you are looking at the building and gardens or across the city. The cathedral is huge and very impressive. Apparently, events are also sometimes held here such as art shows. We were thirsty after walking around so stopped in the little on-site cafe, Lagidze Water. They have special mineral water and serve ice cream as well as hot food. Unfortunately, the water wasn’t working; no electricity, no pump. we still managed to get some bottled water and some excellent khachipuri. Unbelievably delicious.
