The tourists are haggled and taken advantage of here. The sights and sounds of this old part is good.

The heart of Tbilisi
Feb 2020
The real Tbilisi! The mixture of old Georgia, the Ottoman influence and Iranian heritage all in quiet harmony. The only way to enjoy Tbilisi is by walking through its narrow alleys and enjoy the sites and the heritage. You can also enjoy a snack and maybe have a shisha in one of the many cafes in the area, or maybe dare the challenge of having a rough massage in one of the famous old hammams. If you are on your own you can find nice young guides offering their services for just a few dollars.

Cosy and nice
Dec 2020 • Couples
Tbilisi downtown is not a stunning place. Still, it is almost impossible not to fall in love with it, in spite of the unpleasant and vulgar touristy area built in the old town. There still are many charming roads as well as beautiful old houses, even if a few are falling apart, and would be soon replaced by some ugly modern buildings.

Incredibly enough, there also is a tiny waterfall just at the back of the old town.

Must visit!

You have to visit this place. It's the true Tbilisi: with its narrow streets, brick roofs, and multinational community. Make sure to visit the sulphur baths and go to the Botanical Garden right nearby.

This is an amazing place to walk around and explore. A lot of good food options, little shops and restaurants. Gorgeous area, definitely must get lost to experience the area truly.

A labyrinth of emotions at Dzveli Tbilisi!
Sep 2019
Tbilisi's historical district is known by many names: "Dzveli Tbilisi", "Old Tbilisi" or simply "Old Town". A labyrinth of cobbled narrow streets on the right bank of "Mtkvari River" (aka "Kura River"), dominated by "Mount Mtatsminda", "Narikala Fortress" and the imposing monument to "Kartlis Deda" - the almighty "Mother Georgia". On its streets (some exclusively por pedestrians), art galleries, restaurants, bars, cafés, nightclubs ... and churches, museums, sulphur baths and so on! Beautiful traditional colorful wooden houses with lattice balconies, revealing the perfect fusion of European and Asian influences in the local architecture. Visit "Old Town" at any time, but it is only when its lights are on that you can feel its whole magic! Enjoy!

Bucket list destination

The Old Town had beautiful rivers, hillsides, historic buildings, and friendly people. Georgian food, wine, and even water (tap or mineral) are amazing.
