- longroweAl Janabiyah, Bahrain57 contributionsMorning visit to the Islamic Art MuseumWe were lucky enough to arrive moments before a free guided tour was starting. This made a huge difference in our experience! We had a wonderful guide (I’m sorry I don’t know her name). She took us through a few of the galleries highlighting several items and giving us lots of information. The building itself is beautiful and the exhibits are fascinating. A must-see in Doha!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 September 2023
- Azalee99Vienna, Austria163 contributionsIf you visit only one thing in Doha, this is it.Marvellous architecture and marvellous collection, well presented. An absolute must- see. The gift shop is full of ice souvenirs, but a bit weak on books. I am sure they are working on that, though.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023
- LeahthetouristLondon, United Kingdom400 contributionsDefinitely a must visit while in DohaReally interesting museum with enough pieces to keep you interested but not overwhelming. Good information provided in English and Arabic, lots of artefacts from around 1st-2nd century until 18th-19th century. The children also found it interesting and lots of items of jewellery, clothing and weapons to look at. We bought the silver pass which gives you 5 museums in 5 days for 99QR each the kids we’re free otherwise it’s 50QR per adult. Took us about 2 hours to walk round. The building itself is also beautifulVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 October 2023
- Koa W4 contributionsIslamic art and cultureSuch a fantastic place to learn about Islamic art and culture. The building is impressive, the collection is diverse, and they focus on teaching visitors. Whether you love art, history, or just exploring, this museum is a must-see. It helps you understand the rich heritage of Islamic civilization and shows how art and culture can bring people together.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 7 November 2023
- marina o52 contributionsExcellent placeThe first impression is a lot of space and few exhibits. But they turn out to be of very high quality. I appreciated the organization of the exposition - chronological and geographical - is very convenient. I recommend a terrace with a wonderful view. Great gift shopVisited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 November 2023
- LolaGo1Washington DC, District of Columbia6,632 contributionsHighly recommended to visit this attraction! On my last day in Doha, I went to this museum after visiting the Qatar National Museum. For me, I prefer this one between the two. There are more floors of exhibits at this museum. I started on the 5th Floor and ended at the Ground Floor. The beautiful exhibits are on the 2nd and 3rd Floors where items on display include jewelries, tapestries, rugs, Pots, manuscripts, crowns, clothings, etc. Countries represented include Iran, Turkey and Southeast Asian countries where Islam is the major religion. There are places to sit down and eat here. Outside views from this museum are beautiful: boats and the Persian Gulf. Entrance fee for foreigners is 50 Qatar Rial. Staff are helpful, helped me called a taxi.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 November 2023
- 6kousarManchester, United Kingdom54 contributionsExcellent Islamic ArtThis was my second visit to the museum, I was very impressed with the history of Islam in the different countries and how religion was based on different cultures around the world. I would highly recommend if anyone is visiting Doha. Excellent, time well spent but you need quite few hours in order to view the entire museum.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 December 2023
- VickiLondon, United Kingdom672 contributionsImpressive Structure!Centrally located on an island with a beautiful Park. There is a shop on the ground floor where you can buy souvenirs. When you walk past the shop towards the back of the building and go through the doors, you can view the Doha skyline across the water and take beautiful photos. Didn’t get a chance to view the Islamic collection of wood work, jewellery, ceramics etc as got there just before the closing time so will need to visit it again on my next visit to Doha!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 December 2023
- Noorain FAl Khobar, Saudi Arabia4 contributionsAmazing.A very good introduction to Islam by the Qatar Government. They have various exhibits aging back from the Ottoman Empire. You can find the oldest copies of the Quran. A heavenly experience for those who are interested in the Islamic history. However, having a guide who can explain the history of each section would make the experience more exciting and informative.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 December 2023
- Anthony GBexleyheath, United Kingdom300 contributionsDelightful museum. The walk to the very modern museum passes dhows moored and sailing in the bay along a steady rising slope to the entrance. Entry is 50 QAR and the museum is laid out over three floors with beautiful artefacts, including early scripts from the Koran, pottery, tiles and carpets. Visit the courtyards and see the fountains, very relaxing and look across the bay to the Qatar skyline.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 December 2023

A must see, if you are interested in Arabian culture and Historie. Many objects, some of them more than 1000 years old, from all over the world. If you have time, spent some money and time here. On top the building itself is impressive, caught the sun going down when leaving again, we really liked it and are not the typical museums lover.

Whilst we would not have necessarily visited the museum on our own (we are not art aficionados and only had 3 days in Doha) it was a stop on our half day tour of Doha.
The architecture of the museum is beautiful and on entering the exhibits are well spaced out in different areas/floors/rooms with information about each exhibit.
Outside of the museum is also a good place to take photos of Doha and it’s skyline.
Would recommend to those interested in art but for those only in Doha for a short stopover who aren’t interested in art maybe stop off for a photo outside but that’s it.

The museum is worth visiting if you just go to experience Pei's building. The museum is very well designed. There are just enough pieces exhibited which make it easy to digest. Some museums become overwhelming and cause museum fatigue - this is not the case here. Each room is well explained and each individual artifact too. You can visit the place in one hour or so. The view of Doha's skyline is spectacular. There is a nice cafe with decent prices and formal restaurant. They offer a free shuttle to other city museums but we opted to get a taxi instead.

An architectural wonder inside and out. I’m not a big fan of museums, I only came here to take photos from inside and out. I had a blast, came twice, the second one close to night and waited for the skyline to be illuminated. Nature didn’t disappoint and provided me with great sunset and a low lying fog in the sea that created an atmospheric scene. The surrounding park and promenade is also nice for walking and photography. It’s about 15 minutes walk from souk waqif metro station. Costs 50 rials pp and your ticket is valid for 3 days. Free to residents only.

The MIA in Doha is one of the must-see places in Qatar, never mind Doha, and should be included in all itineraries. Entry tickets are QAR 50 per adult which is comparable to other international museums of this type. First things first, the architecture is breathtaking and the building never looks the same at two different times, making the museum highly photogenic. The museum has a splendid range of artifacts which are all excellently restored, but its presentation of these artifacts leaves a lot to be desired. Apart from one short description of all the items in a room, there is no other explanations for the art for many of the artifacts, which is a shame as many of them looked very interesting. All in all, this museum is a must visit in Qatar and its a decent museum, but its lacking that extra factor which makes it a great museum.

The museum itself is 50QAR for tourists but you can walk through to a free viewing area. Just ask at the desk and they'll point you in the right direction. There's toilets which are clean and the view you get across to the city is fantastic. I can't comment on the art as we only went for the view.

Coming from a place where access to museum is free and they actually have so much exciting knowledge.
We thought this was free if you fly Qatar airways. but this costs 50 riyals, I wouldn’t mind have paying this if it provided an insight or details or knowledge on anything.
The museum has 4 floors spacious and very white and grey feel.
The museum just islamic ornaments from all around the world ( cutlery, jewellery, and carpets). Spent about 1hour here and the outside part was more exciting let say than the inside. The restaurant on the top floor looks nice but the menu was outrageously expensive.
Nothing impressive or wow. Just see the building from the outside and should be enough. Having been to any museums and galleries around the world this is at the bottom.

Huge variety of artifacts and traditional art collections are available here. Gives a nice tour of insight of the ancient history and culture.
They have collections from Turkey, Iran, India, several Middle Eastern countries and part of North Africa as well as Europe.
The building itself is situated half on land and half in water. Its tremendous piece of monument and every design and details are unique.
It has also got a small library within giving more interactive options and more in-depth information and more options to get know the Middle Eastern culture.
Though residents are free of charge to enter they charge for non residents Qar50/- (Usd14/-) per person.
Must visit in Qatar...!!!

I think Doha has the most colour skyline ever! It’s sooo pretty you want to constantly take pictures of it from every location you can see it from.
But this museum has the best view of it!
The amazing courtyard.
The museum also have a beautiful range of Islamic history and the exhibitions are very nice.
One of my favourite places to visit in Doha.

Went during Ramadan - everybody except the ladies at the counter were extremely rude and grouchy. The art was great. But a large part of the experience in a museum is either the lack of intrusion by staff or very intrusive staff. The guards were very rude to us - perhaps it’s a language thing but they were pointing / ordering us around which is just horrible. Just entering each section, we are met (notice I didn’t use greeted) by a grumpy rude person who stared at us with murderous eyes. They would do a lot better greeting guests with a smile. I get that it’s Ramadan but come on! I will never ever visit this place again and have told everyone I have met about this truly horrible experience. Also we weren’t allowed to drink. I mean, we had to go to the toilet to drink and there too we were greeted by a very nasty looking rude kid who stared at us. I had to go into the stall, flush and then take a sip of water. Worst experience ever.

The museum opens at 9 but my flight arrives at 5:30am. Is access to the outdoor area with the beautiful arches overlooking Doha skyline require admission to the museum? Do I need to wait til they open to see it?

I recall that I had to go through the main building and take the doors out to the left to get to the courtyard area with the arches overlooking the skyline.
