- Loubna a3 contributionsImpressiveActually I went with my Mom and I am not a teen nor a child. We like to know more about the country we are in and there is no better place than the national museum. We were impressed and only one thing didn't go well. The hours of visiting are not accurate here and the museum closed at 2 pm as a result we couldn't see everything at one time.Visited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 March 2023
- ArtyGrLeiden, The Netherlands633 contributionsA stunning collection from along and rich pastWe spent one hour in the museum, but it was far too short. The richness of the collection is stunning. The published guide is excellent and gives much more information about the artifacts than on the labels (a must for history buffs, even if you only read it afterwards)Visited April 2023Written 6 May 2023
- Kanyakumari_11Madrid, Spain13 contributionsCondensed history of LebanonI loved the Mational Museum of Beirut. It helps you so much to understand the rich history of Phoenia. The wonderful sarcophagus of Ahiram, of Achilles, the Ford collection of sarcophagi; the Abduction of Europa mosaic, Tyre hypogeum, bull protome, Eshmun Tribune are a few of many interesting objects of this museum. I visited the museum before going to the different cities and archeological sites. Personally I would have visited the museum after to look at the exhibits with more knowledge.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 October 2023

The National museum is a must visit while in Beirut. It is not huge or overwhelming and is the main archeological museum in Lebanon.
The museum has an extensive collection. There are sarcophagi, mosaics, statues, reliefs, pottery etc.. There are artifacts from the Phoenician civilization, Hellenistic period, Roman, Byzantine and more.

I was amazed with the number of exponents dating from prehistoric time and covering all the periods of human development. There are three stores, therefore make sure you set a couple hours of visit

If you are in Beirut, make sure to visit the National Museum. The collection is quite impressive, since it includes different historic periods and civilizations.

As the title says, join a guided tour to fully enjoy this museum! Really good collection of especially sarcophaguses but a little bit to little written information.

We nearly didn’t go as we’ve seen a lot of museums on our trip - so glad we did! It’s gorgeous with such an interesting collection - different to anything else we’ve seen. Be careful - it’s currently only open 10 - 2pm daily - you should head to MIMS Mineral Museum a few minutes up the road afterwards….

According their website the hours during Eid will be different, but they don't list what it will be. I suggest you call the evening prior to going and confirming the hours.

I'm planning a trip to Beirut around New Years. Does anybody know if the Museum is closed both New Year's eve and New Years Day? The website only says it's closed on holidays but doesn't specify.
If so is this the same for all museums in the city?

New Year's day is official holiday, no museum would be open on such a day. Good time to visit Lebanon.
