Housed in 4 separate buildings, the Archaeological Museum is a remarkable treasure. It offers extensive background history for Istanbul with well organized exhibits that chronicle the extensive ruins that have been unearthed in Istanbul and throughout Turkey. The main building is undergoing earthquake retro-fitting, but...More

This had been a subsidiary attraction on our list prior to arriving to the city. However, upon visiting the archeological museums we were truly and utterly surprised and impressed by the shear number of quality artefacts they had on display. Definitely recommend! Could almost say...More

There are 3 separate buildings inside the Museum Campus. The archaeological items displayed are mainly from Egypt, Greece and Lebanon. The most interesting part is the coffee shop in the yard - calm and beautiful greenery.

A huge part of the museum was in restoration. Very poorly descriptions and display did not help to enjoy it. It supposed to be a highlight and a great cultural experience here but I left unsatisfied and I don't think I will be back.

The sculptures and the ancient tombs are definitely the left overs for Turkey. Years of smuggling from Turkey and there are still some interesting pieces you should visit. Must hire a tour guide to most out of the museum and spent at least 2 quality...More

We paid the ticket fee only to walk in and see the archaeology museum is almost totally under restoration. It was a total waste of money and actually made me angry that they are still selling tickets for that particular museum. There is almost nothing...More

The collection is amazing and well worth seeing. Included in Museum Pass. Currently undergoing extensive renovations. The displays are very outdated, signage difficult to read, lighting poor. Hopefully this place will live up to its potential when completed.

an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an
overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a
prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly
epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the
Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this
relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to
