We booked this tour as a means to get from HCMC to the Mekong Delta and onwards to Can Tho, where my paternal grandmother lives. Being American born, it was nice to have a tour guide that spoke English exceptionally well. He understood all cues and humor that came along with American humor. Our guide, John, appears to be a very well read man. On our trip he was able to explain the rich history of each location as we drove through them, as well as future developments to come. Information such as how many people it took to construct a bridge, who it was financed by, and the time it took- to even how many casualties. His extensive knowledge in economics, history, and even pop-culture is impressive. From HCMC to the Mekong Delta tour was approximately 2+ hours. We took a small boat to an island where we visited a coconut farm where we got to see the nuts beings pressed for their milk. We also tried some fresh coconut candies being made on site. They were so good that we bought 10 bags as souvenirs. Afterwards we walked around in a tropical fruit garden with a guide helping us identify the fruits. We were then treated to mid-morning tea with some mouth-watering tropical fruits. Some of the local villagers came out and put on a small concert for us. On the next island John arranged for our group to have lunch in a gazebo over the waters. Being Vietnamese, the food we had at our table was definitely well received. No complaints on authenticity. When we arrived at Can Tho, John arranged for our group to see the floating markets the next morning after breakfast. The energy from the vendors cannot be described. We are glad we made time to include this into our trip. John is extremely passionate and you can see this as you talk and ask him questions. No question is too small or complicated for John. If he doesn't have the answer, he will find out for you as soon as possible. Speaking on behalf of my group, I highly recommend John and his company Destination Indochina for it all. I only wished I met John sooner so I could have used him to plan the rest of my southeast Asia trip. Fortunately for me, I am planning to go back to VN in the next few years. I cannot wait to see what new adventure Destination Indochina can book for me.

The owner of this company has recently started this new business conducting private tours of Ho Chi Ming (Saigon). He previously worked for another company who we had booked through and we met him in that capacity. His name is Hoang, and he is a really splendid chap, he speaks perfect English and he really helped us through a serious issue we had with our hotel. He can be totally relied upon and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in using any business he is concerned with. It is a fantastic city, so if you are thinking about going there, use Hoang, you will not be disappointed.
