Sax n' Art jazz club is the premier jazz venue in Saigon. There is not much else. Saxophonist Trần Mạnh Tuấn opened the club about 15 years ago. It's open 7 days a week, except during Pandemic. The owner Tuan is the best Vietnamese saxophonist and is playing, whenever he is in town. Tuan graduated from Berklee College, he played with some of the greats of jazz world from Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, to Charlie Bisharat. The audience in the club is mostly tourists. Tuan sings and played not only saxophones, but also some Vietnamese folk instruments. He had a full band supporting him on Andy Duc on drums, Morgan Dung on bass, Minh Phuong piano, Moriyuki Mio trombone and another sax player Tien Dung Quach. Great evening and by Canadian standards not expensive. 150,000 is cover charge it seems like a lot of money, but it is about $6 US. Beer cost about the same. There was construction near the club in February 2020, so it was bit harder to find. It is near the tourist Day and Night Market.…

Last night we were treated to another evening of great Jazz music.Last year it was in Hanoi .... This year Saigon. The performance from the Saxophonist was incredible, and when he wasn't playing the many other instruments,he treated us to amazing vocals ....along with the pianist and base guitar solos of his bang, it made for a great night ....…

Cool jazz club with professional artists and a charismatic owner with his saxophone. When we were there he had invited a couple of young musicians among them his sixteen year old daughter taking up the quest of playing her father’s instrument. Nice and intimate atmosphere the Saturday evening we visited. …
