About
This small island off Pattaya's coast is a great day trip spot for some beach fun. You can reach Koh Larn, or Coral Island, in just 40 minutes by ferry or speedboat from Bali Hai Pier. The crystalline beaches and warm, pristine waters are great for parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides and snorkeling. And for the best views on the island, locals recommend the Big Buddha Viewpoint. Explore the island by renting a cheap scooter, or join a group tour, which typically takes care of your transport to the island as well. – Tripadvisor

- namthip5612 contributionsThe beautiful seaIt is a very beautiful island in Thailand. I came here for the second time. The people on the island are kind and talk and recommend various beaches. I really like it. The sea is beautiful everywhere I go. I will definitely go back. Thank you. 😊Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 24 October 2023
- NIGEWORLDTRAVELLERLondon, United Kingdom19 contributionsWOW - WHAT A STUNNING PLACE.This is a great island and not too expensive either. You can go by ferry from Pattaya about 50 minutes or speed boat which takes around 15 minutes. The ferry cost 30 Baht whilst the speed boat cost 150 Baht per person at the time of writing. Beaches are stunning, turquoise water and clear, with fish swimming from time to time. If you look around hotel accommodation can be for as little as 1,000 Baht including breakfast for two/night. I definitely prefer this place to Barbados, and, the cost is much cheaper too. There are five main beaches, Samei was my favourite. Beautiful, looking forward to going back soon.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 December 2023
- Robert Searle8 contributionsA day by the seaside.I have been put off the day trip to Koh Larn, because of the mixed reviews. If you want to know about a place, look it up on Trip Advisor. Some were excellent, had a wonderful time. Others did not. That is one of the reasons for reviews. But my girlfriend wanted to go. She remembered when her children were young, and they loved it. I had to take her. There was a family near us, and the child swam a lot and ran around in the sand a lot. They enjoyed the experience. It was Hot, and the sea was colder than when we did the 3 island boat tour, where the sea was as warm as tropical sea can be. I loved the boat slide. On the beach, what do they make sandpaper with.? But the child nearby covered herself in it, then ran into the sea, came out and did it again. Not something I'd want to do. Mum was sunbaking. There are plenty of shaded seating areas, and food and drink were brought to us. The ferry was quite crowded, but we easily found seats, THB60 each way so £4. Shaded loungers, £5 for day, food water beer, about £10, Bolt to hotel £3. See through boat, snorkel hire, banana boat, jetski, all various prices. It was helpful - very - that my girlfriend is Thai, so for those things I would ask a travel agent and hope that the agent has had customer feedback and sends you on a good tour. The next day we went to Ridleys, and I took her for a speedboat ride, ( because we took the ferry) which jumped rocks, and dived underwater, did some sharp turns and got chased by a dragon. Not quite the real thing, but good fun.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 December 2023
- Ankit J6 contributionsPerfect one day beach tourKoh Larn or Coral Island trip can be a great full day trip for some beach fun. Prefer going by speed boat. Charges are around 250 Baht per person for both sides. One can bargain on it. The island is perfect for para sailing, banana boat rides, snorkelling, and many other adventure sports. Don't go for Jet ski as most of the jet ski guys are scammers who will rob you. If you want to sit on the chairs of the island, they will charge 100 Baht for it. The island gets crowded a lot during summers. Prefer visiting Pattaya during October-November as it's least crowded during this time.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 December 2023
- N JWoodstock, Canada158 contributionsTien beach is nicer and quieterYou grab a speedboat at the pier, takes about 15 min to get to the island. Tien beach is another 10 minutes, on the back side of the island, but worth it. Less busy there. Beach is gorgeous, clean and nice. Chairs are cheap to rent, and the local food and drinks are reasonable and readily available. Water is warm. I strongly advise against renting a Jetski. Way overpriced and it just takes away from the beauty of the place. Great for a day tripVisited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 January 2024
- norwich13Norwich, United Kingdom7 contributionsincredible fell in love with the monkeys!visited 4 of the beaches, Nuala being my favourite. got a taxi boat from pattaya straight to monkey Island. Had 3 different amazing experiences with the monkeys.they were so funny, little naughty but extremely gentle. they even sat on my shoulder, head and lap. They loved monkey nuts, melon and tomatoes. Take them stay calm and relaxed and you will have the experience of your life of them in there natural environment. We did climb into the mountain a little up the small track. Beach was beautiful too.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 March 2024
- TontawanBangkok, Thailand8 contributionsA great experiences at Koh LarnIt was a very perfect travel experience. Koh Larn is an island that is not very large. This makes it possible to easily drive around the entire island. During the high season, there were many tourists on the island. and the beaches were full of people. But it doesn't make traveling any less fun! I went swimming at Nuan Beach and Samae Beach, it was great! The sea water is so clear that you can see many schools of fish. Consider it a trip that will be a very good memory 🙂Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 March 2024
- LindaKent, United Kingdom23 contributionsTo die for.l went to koh larn island, we stayed at mythe hotel. It was unbelievable, they came each morning with eggs, sausage, bacon, eggs, crioissants, fresh juice tea or coffee. It was all very nice, we had a room that was outside, it was the shower room, and we had french doors, you open the door & it was your own private viewing Pattaya & your own small pool jacuzzi. Omg it was to die for. l dived straight in with my cloths on as it was so hot. You can get from the port their own taxi, free you pho e them up & they only pick you up. The speed boat cost about £3.50 which takes 10-15 minutes, or 50p for l hour. Well worth every penny the whole trip.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 June 2024
- Paradise462502660171 contributionKoh Larn looking for girlsMy friend and I traveled from home to Chonburi Province and to Pattaya. We then traveled to the pier to catch a boat to Koh Larn. On the way there We shared a boat ride with a large group of people. On the way, I felt nauseous all the time until Koh Larn. After that, we sat and played in the water on the beach. The water at Koh Larn has a beautiful color and is very clean with turquoise water. After playing in the water, we rented a car to drive around Koh Larn. Koh Larn has many beautiful spots and is very challenging to drive because the roads are quite steep and dangerous. After they finished driving, they traveled to the pier to travel to Pattaya and return home.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 June 2024

Upon arrival, there are a lot of activities on the beach such as snorkeling , or water sports. The ambiance is very good and the sea view is beautiful. At the end of my journey, It was a very fun trip. And I recommend everyone to come here it is a gorgeous nature and also stunning. We got to the Bali Hai pier right at 9am and assumed we had already missed the 9am since we saw a full ferry leaving and were expecting to grab the 10am one but we were on a ferry and leaving the dock by about 9:05/9:10. It seems they leave as soon as they're full and don't stop all day so show up when you can and you'll be on your way in no time. 30 baht each way per person, can't beat the price. Arrived at the Na Baan pier within 45 minutes. Many motorbikes being hustled for 300 baht for the day. We walked a short distance through the very narrow street of town and found a bike for rent for 200 baht by accident. No issues at all. I wish I remembered the shop name since they were very nice. Headed south and within minutes of a slow casual motorbike ride found ourselves at Nuan beach(monkey beach but didn't see any monkeys). Clear blue water, white sand, plenty of loungers and umbrellas for 100 baht each. Not too busy and you could find a quiet patch to swim on either end of the beach. A few places for snacks or find beachwear or beach toys if needed.
We headed out after a couple hours and checked out Samae beach. Again, we arrived within minutes from a slow paced motorbike ride. A larger wider beach than Nuan and much busier and quite a bit of garbage littering the beach. Also a constant flow of tour groups coming and going. Lots of choices for food and a few small resorts. We then headed to Tawean beach after another quick motorbike ride. What a zoo! I've never seen a busier beach in all of Thailand. A beautiful beach but you can barely see it through the crowds and boats. We stopped to take a photo but there was no point, unless you like photos of crowds. Quickly left and headed to Tonglan beach to the north. An extremely narrow and winding road in so drive slow and expect bikes to be coming around the corners. Not accessible by car as it's too narrow. Almost the size of a large sidewalk. If you're looking for a quiet beach, this your best bet. We saw maybe 10 people here at about 3pm. There were less than 5 bikes parked at the entrance when we arrived. Also a steep stairway to the beach from a very small motorbike parking area. We then headed back to Baan Ko Laan to return the bike, grab some food and head to the ferry. A great little food market with fresh fish just outside the town centre. Al in all a great day trip that cost two of us less than 1000 baht.

Nice place to go for a day. Take the speed boat for 300 Bath pp return price. And rent a scooter for 300 Bath a day to tour the island and visit some of the quiet beaches. I have rent a jet ski for half hour 800 Bath and spend some time at Tawaen beach. The island is small and can be crowded during holidays.

If you want to escape from Pattaya crowd go to this site where you can find clear white sand beaches the most crowded one is tawaen beach but tien and samue Beach is less crowded you will find restaurants and sunbeds for 100 baht. You can take speedboat or the local ferry from the bahi pier for 30 baht it takes around 45mins however the speedboat is quicker, it's expensive than the ferry boat. It's worthwhile to be seen

Very popular amongst the locals and tourists in general. During weekends island is packed with people which can sour the experience. Despite this, the beautiful white sand beaches can be a lifetime experience. Easy to get to from Pattaya. A normal ferry is recommended (30 baht), the speedboats (150 baht) are always a thought ride and can be not suited for small children or the elderly. Motorscooter is a must on the island. Roads are narrow so be cautious. Don't recommend hiring the scooter from the red vested guys picking you up when walking from the ferry. Many hotels offer motorscooter hire for a reasonable price. Normal price 200 baht a day petrol included.

30 baht ferry ride from Bali Hai pier gets you a pretty decent thai island experience - I’ve been there twice and the ferry dropped me at a different pier each time. For 300 baht (no passport needed, just a 1000 baht deposit) you can grab a motorbike and explore the island. Visit Tawaen beach and have some seafood at the Tawaen beach resort on the northwest side of the island, it’s phenomenal.

If you are expecting a quiet deserted island where you can relax, swim or snorkel (like I was) this is not for you.
The sand was silver & the sea turquoise, but the downside to this beauty was the wall to wall deckchairs spread across the beach too close together & the constant noise (& smell) of jet skis &
power boats. We did have a very tasty seafood lunch that was included with the trip. You also get the opportunity to have a go at paragliding very reasonably. Your time on the island is about 1 1/2 hours, just enough time for lunch & swim.
If you want time to explore koh Larn, I suggest that you take the ferry boat & not an organised trip.

Koh Larn is a 1 hour ferry or less from Pattaya mainland. I have been many times with friends but it isn't a favorite destination. Generally overcrowded with tourists and beach umbrellas which really distorts the view. Noisy with so many speed boats. Beautiful clear waters but so muddled with noise and locals bothering you to buy stuff that there is no relaxing to be had here.

We have a nice day at the beach.there are not so many tourists still, which I like, but a shame fore the people how have there incoming from tourists. The water is clear, the beach is also clean.
Top advice. Take the ferry to Koh Larn, it only cost 30 thb, and only takes about 30 minutes.

Firstly , it is cheap. 30 bahts one way on the public boat. And the journey is smooth and scenic. The beach is nice and the water is warm, but it is overcrowded to the limit. It you don;t mind swim around people, from all over the world, it is the place for you. There are many water sports available and you never run out of things to do. The deckchair is rented 100 bahts for the whole day. It is essential, in my opinion, if you stay on the beach and swim for any length of time. There simply nowhere to sit or lying down if you don't use the chair.

HI, I am planning to visit any two beaches in Koh Larn. Which are the best options? and how to reach there from Koh Larn ferry? and shared van charges?
Written 28 January 2020
The beaches are great on the island. You may take tuk-tuk or moto taxi or rent a bike to get there. Rent costs 300 per day. It takes 20 minutes to get to any beach on the island from the ferry.
Ferry can arrive at different places from mainland. But it doesn't matter. There is a transport everywhere.

Kho larn is a tad expensive if I were you find a hostel in pattaya and there are many near walking street, that is where Bali hi pier is, and catch the ferry everyday, but rent a motorbike 200 bhat per day, when you get off the ferry walk past the guys who are renting bikes go to the end turn left there is an old woman there renting bikes 200 bhat with gasoline all day, then explore the island, great place.

hi, I am planning a trip to Bangkok and Pattaya with family in Jan'20.
which places should be a must visit and which ones to be avoided ... this will be our first trip to Thailand.
was looking at a package which includes - coral island with lunch, Bangkok city tour, Safari world & Marine Park ...
Kindly suggest, Thanks
Written 4 September 2019
Most of all the bangkok tour packages includes the Bangkok city tour and Coral island tours.
I would suggest if you are in India, to look for "Dpauls " packages as they give variety of such tour packages and even customize. A little on higher side as they generally give better hotels than rest, though they still have the star category mentioned.
I would suggest in bangkok you can look to visit the golden Budha temple( sleeping budha), and also the Bangkok king palace. its nice when you are with Family and something to tick mark when you are there. Though these things if you have time, you can ask your hotel travel desk only and they also can arrange, typically a half- to full day trip.
Bangkok City tour i think also covers one of them.
When you in Pattaya, any hotel that you stay can and should guide you to coral island tours, generally that tour includes parasailing and maybe snorkeling/ banan boat and coral island as a package. . generally around 1500- 1900 bahts( 4000 per person).
But since you are with family, i suggest to book the packages from here and maybe few good travel agents can give the above, most of them have what you indicated with a plus/ minus of few things.
Written 5 September 2019
Thanks that was useful. Where did you book your mentioned tour.
Written 25 August 2019
Hi, I didn't book any tour, just walked to pier and took a boat (you can just walk to the big boats and pay there). In the Island I just walked to the baht bus parking area and took the bus from there.
