A very short but steep hike with plenty of places to take beautiful pictures. A nice beach area to relax before a "climb" back out! Must be in good shape and stable to do hike!

This is a must do hike and visit on the Big Island. There is limited parking available, so it is best to go early in morning. We arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m.. The hike is strenuous as you navigate switchbacks that have many uneven sized rocks to step on. The trail should take approximately 30 minutes one way at a steady pace. The end of trail takes you to a valley with a breathtaking view of the ocean shoreline with cliffs that even have some waterfalls(they are not close by but a far distance down). We had binoculars that we could view these waterfalls with. There are even some tree swings that our kids tried out. It is very peaceful here.

It's down all the way in, and up all the way out. Stunning coastline, lush tropical valley. A really wonderful hike.

Amazing views!! It felt like something you'd see in a Jurrasic Park movie! The trip down and back up is steep, but doable if you're in reasonably good shape. The best part is really at the bottom and you won't get the full experience if you just stay at the top. At the bottom there is a magical forest, a black sand beach (not safe for swimming, but cool to see) and a bunch of rope swings hanging from the trees! We brought along hammocks and had a peaceful afternoon enjoying the woods and looking at the waves.

Phenomenal views, but you will need to sweat a little to earn the right to see them. Walking sticks do come in handy going down into the floor of the valley.
