Wonderful experience! We went with our kids (12 and 9) and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We learned a lot and got to taste cacao in many forms. I highly recommend it for a fun, quick activity where you can learn a lot about the Mayan culture.

Our family of four walked in to this experience as opposed to booking ahead of time. It was more of a spur of the moment decision after our previous adventure, but if we knew what time we were arriving it would have been helpful. We walked in right as another group was starting so we were able to join without a wait as they start on the hour, but some people had to wait for the previous group to finish. We saw the cacao go through all the stages and got to try at various points. Then we tried two traditional Mayan drinks and learned all about the history of cacao and the culture. After the visit we stopped in the store and purchased finished products. In total it took about an hour from start to finish, we had a great time and would recommend this experience.

The chocolate is quite nice and provide the sense that are really handmade. The roasted cacao beans were very good as well (great to include them in your breakfast granola). The price thou is expensive (south america chocolate is fantastic and is at least half price). Anyway, recommendable to at least try a piece when in Belize.

Highly recommend AJAW Chocolate and their 1-hour chocolate class! You get to taste all along the chocolate process from seed to the traditional Maya hot chocolate. The traditional hot chocolate was the best!! Very informative about how the Maya first used/created chocolate and how it is made today.
After the class, we spent about 30 minutes talking to the owner, which was really great to connect and learn more about Maya families, tradition, and chocolate. This was one of my top experiences in Belize, because it was so cool to have a local experience and of course try all of the chocolate!

We had a day in San Ignacio so we checked out the AJAW chocolate experience. So glad we did! Learned a lot about the ancient Mayan chocolate cultivation process and got to taste a lot of samples. Staff were really nice and accomodating.
If you are in San Ignacio, I highly recommend taking part in this experience!

Loved our brief visit to Ajaw chocolates. The education was in-depth but not too long to lose the attention of our kids.. It was nice learning and trying chocolate in different stages while learning about the history of chocolate within this area.

The demonstrations along with the history were very informative, and the hands-on tasting of the various stages of chocolate extraction was so interesting. The facility is clean and comfortable and Adrian and his team were professional. Fabulous chocolate and I have a new appreciation for the cultural heritage. Wish they weren’t out of the bars when we were checking out, but they did have cookies.

Very enjoyable and cost friendly activity in San Ignacio. Very interesting learning about the origins of chocolate. A must do whilst visiting the area! Bought some chocolate at the end and it’s the best I’ve ever tasted. Go for the gold bar!

We didn’t do the tour but we did buy cocoa from the store. Best chocolate! We got the gold milk bar and it just melted in your mouth. We also bought beans, nibs, and powder to take home. Super friendly and knowledgeable.

We had gone on a tour at another chocolate facility in Belize, so we decided to skip the tour here. While in San Ignacio, we visited just to purchase some chocolate. Sadly, the chocolate itself was more expensive than expected. It was good...not very good or excellent. I see that many are offering praise for the tour. Perhaps the real appeal of AJAW Chocolate and Crafts is to participate in the tour itself. If you just want to buy great chocolate, I recommend saving your money and going elsewhere.
