I am so upset with this agency. I had approached zippy travel for unaccompanied minor for my 2 kids. Ms.Alisha had a very friendly and convincing style of convincing me to book my ticket with the. Soon as the money was transferred to their account, she was unavailable and Mr.Haroon answered my call...He said he will issue the e-ticket but it's been 4 hrs since I received any response from them. When tried to contact them, another gentleman answered the call mentioning even Mr.Haroon left office and would be back on the next working day. (date when my kids actually are travelling). I highly wish noone will ever face this horrible experience from them.

We first booked Zippy Zappy Mayan Travels for our transport from Corozal to San Ignacio, via Lamanai. From the first moment it was a great experience being in the tour bus with Gabriel and Stephen. Stephen is an excellent driver, Gabriel extremely knowledgeable, and both just fun and talkative guys. We booked every other transfer in Belize with them, including the drive back into Mexico. Along the way we received good advice and support. Highly recommended! Thanks guys!

We have had a great experience booking our transfers across Belize, Guatemala and Mexico with Carlos and Zippy Zappy travels. I have been looking for long time for an operator that could arrange the transfers for 6 of us from Europe, but had a very hard time finding any suitable agency. They either didn't have a website/email or wouldn't reply to our messages.

Finally, I found an online recommendation of Zippy Zappy (on the forum it had the former name Mundo Maya travels) and got in touch with them. Carlos promptly replied to me with an answer to all my questions and a breakdown of costs and operators per each leg of transfer. The level of professionalism of the response left me no doubt that this was the correct agency to engage with and I ended up booking with them.

As soon as we got out of the airport in BLZ city we found Carlos waiting for us. He immediately put us in the "holiday mood' with his positive energy and fun attitude. On the way to his office, we told him we were hungry and he suggested we took a detour to a local street food stall where we had the best lobster skewers! Then, after settling the payment at the office, we got on the bus to our first destination, El Remate. Bus ride was very smooth and with no hiccups, we just stopped at the border between Belize and Guatemala to pay the exit fee as we were informed beforehand.

After visiting Tikal, we then took another bus booked for us by Carlos which brought us from Flores to Guatemala City, and right after that we were picked up at the Guatemala City station by a private transfer to go to Antigua. We were really surprised to see how it all went really smooth, considering that we were travelling in countries where it is quite common to have troubles moving around.

And indeed we had some problems with transfers towards the end of our trip. The ADO bus we booked ourselves (coincidence?), which should have brought us back from Merida to BLZ city, was cancelled because the "bus had vanished". That's no joke, the customer service attendant kept telling us that they couldn't get in touch with the driver and that they didn't know where the bus was. We figured that was just an excuse not to bring us to our destination, as there were just 7 people on the bus and they would have probably operated that ride at a loss or a very low profit. Anyways, we found ourselves in the need for a last minute solution to get to Blz city in time for our morning flight the next day. We immediately booked the tickets for the last night bus to Chetumal, at the border between Mexico and Belize, but then what? At that point we thought, only Carlos can help us out.

We called him at midnight hoping that he would pick up and luckily he did. We explained the situation and asked if he could find a solution. He proposed to come pick us up at the border between Mexico and Belize and bring us to the airport in time for our flight. Shortly after we agreed in relief and dropped the phone, the guy jumped on his van and started the 3-hour ride towards the border. We found him there waiting for us, a bit tired but still with that big smile on his face. He brought us to the airport on time and we managed to take our flight to the next destination, literally saving us from one or more days of holiday lost and who knows how many more dollars to spend to make up for the lost flight and the extra accommodation.

In summary, Carlos has been the hero of our holidays: he set up everything for us, made us feel at ease and literally saved us from a situation that could have potentially ruined our holiday. I would recommend everyone to book your transfers and excursions across Belize, Guatemala, Mexico and other Central American countries with Carlos and Zippy Zappy!

Carlos was very helpful. Answered all of my questions on phone and text, even on a Saturday night (!) when we were traveling the next morning.

Bus was 45 mins late to begin. 31 degree heat, so not a great start..

When we all boarded, the tour operator chap mentioned a number of mishaps from previous tours mentioned on tripadvisor that he promised would not happen on this trip. However..... they all came true!

See the below list of what we were promised wouldn’t occur:
1. We would not pick up any “additional passengers” from the side of the road
2. We would not stop to pick up any meat packages from the side of the road
3. We would not courier any other supplies on route
4. They would drop us off at the designated bus stop and not at a petrol station

So here’s a bit more in-depth info about what did happen.

1. We did indeed pick up additional passengers along the way. We picked up a couple guys from the side of the road about 40 mins into our travel. They were no bother and remained at the front of the bus, but considering what we were told not less than an hour before, it seemed like a great start. We then picked up another guy outside a meat factory (to be covered more under item 2). Following the Guatemalan border a young travelling couple appeared from nowhere with a handful of mangos, and then another random guy also boarded. F**k knows where he came from. All in all, about 6 people boarded. Still though, no problem.

2. We stopped outside a Belizean meat factory and picked up a guy and numerous supplies. About three drums of mystery meat as well as an Extra Large refuse sack of Chicken Legs. Just chucked it under the bus for 5 hours with everyone else’s gear. Quite funny. Little bit gross

3. As the guy was telling us this in Belize City whilst on the bus, we could all see a work force of 4 guys loading up the bus with fizzy drinks and snacks from
a truck parked in front. Again, no problem, just funny

4. We did in fact get dropped at the petrol station outside the city, rather than at the bus stop inside. However, got a free shuttle to Flores Island from there so not too bad. The geezer who picked us up did try to sell us all transfers and tour trips though. Don’t do it. Better deals elsewhere (especially if staying at Los Amigos)

All in all, a good and easy bus ride. However, very comedic in the fact that everything that wasn’t supposed to happen, did happen. And also, if heading from Caye Caulker to Flores, then options are limited. So you kind of have to get on this clown coach regardless.

PS. The tour operator did say that if issues happened whilst on the trip, then we should write on trip advisor to ensure it doesn’t happen again. So here it is. My review. Our bus trip was from Belize City (water taxi terminal) to Flores on Wednesday 20th June 2018 at 10:30AM. Enjoy the same spiel we got. Not a terrible trip though

I lost my passport in Belize and unfortunately I didn’t know about it during some days. Luckily the guys from Mundo Maya Travels found it. They were waiting for me during five days every time the water taxi was coming back from the islands. They did an incredible effort and I will be always grateful for it. When we finally met, they took care of us while we were waiting for the bus to Flores. They were very helpful and extremely friendly. I wish I could meet such people every time I travel. I was really lucky that time!!!

My cousin and I had a fantastic experience!

Carlos helped us filled our five days in Belize with fun activities.
If he doesnt know the answer, he will go out if his way to find the information for you. He is simply the best!

Richard was our tour guide for Altun Ha. The minute we got in his vehicle he began to give us tour of the city. He is full of knowledge and information. While we were at Altun Ha ruins he was always informing us of the Mayan sites, culture, and describing how the different plants around the park are used for medicinal purposes in Belize. He also took plenty of pictures of us while we were there.

I 100% recommend booking with Zippy Zapppy!

Ask for Carlos to help you book your desired sites and request Richard Lord for your Altun Ha tour.

We took a bus from Belize City to Flores. We bought the ticket in Caye Caulker with a discounted water taxi ride which was nice ($32USD for bus + water taxi).

HOWEVER the coach only goes as far as Santa Elena not far from Flores, where you have to take a shuttle across to the island.

The company that runs the shuttle will scam tourists to buy overpriced and fake bus/tour tickets as posted by numerous people on TripAdvisor.

We’re met by Enrique or “Eric” as he seems to be known by as well to take the shuttle from Santa Elena to Flores.

During conversation we mentioned we were flying to Guatemala City (GUA) from Flores and were heading to Antigua from there. Enrique told us that we had to book a shuttle quickly as a taxi is very expensive and the seats fill up very quickly. He told us the shuttle only ran once a day and usually it would be booked up by this time.

Worried, we went to the office to get the last available seats on this “shuttle” from GUA and he charged us $50USD for both tickets. When we got to GUA we were greeted with many signs saying the shuttles were only $10USD each. Moreover, they ran extremely regularly.

What makes matters worse is that this “shuttle” never arrived. No one at the airport knew of this company and I don’t believe any seats had ever been booked.

We called Enrique through the Whatsapp number he gave us and refused to comment or give any further information about the shuttle. He hung up on us when we tried to press further. We ended up having to pay for a new shuttle.

While we understand that it isn’t Zippy Zappy who scammed us, they handed our service over to a company who had proven to do it numerous times.

Hi Thea, You wrote us and we answered you by email in regards to this issue, however it is also important to reply here as well. Zippy Zappy Mayan Travels is a tour and travel agency. We are authorized by several companies in regards to transport by land, air and sea to sell their services. We have been established for 28 years and have an established webpage as well as comercial and banking infrastructure which we highly prize to offer honest services to our clients. We have no control on the internal functioning of the bus company that you rode on. The buses as you rightly state will make a final stop in Flores from where another independent service provider will take you free of cost by shuttle to the island of Flores. They will offer you their services and you are free to accept or not if you have not previously bought the said services via internet through some trustworthy source. In all fairness to us if you were to buy an airplane ticket from a travel agent and on arrival to the airport of destination you were to take or hire some service once there, only to be scammed, scammed would you blame the agent who sold you the initial service? In truth we are sorry and would hope that you would request Trip Advisor a modification of this review. Regards, RamĂłn Cervantes

Carlos delivered on what he promised for our journey to Flores from Belize City- an air conditioned big bus with reclining seats (many tour operators don’t). Go with these guys for a hassle free journey. Thanks Carlos!!!

FYI border tax leaving Belize $16.50USD if you’ve been there one day or less $20USD for longer and the border guards DO have change for USD or Belizean dollars.
