Absolutely gorgeous estate, just 15 minutes from downtown DC. Quiet, beautiful, and not crowded. They have guided tours and self-guided audio tours. We opted for the self-guided (without audio), and we loved it all. You get to see so much of the house, really walk...More

Hillwood Estate is just wonderful. Start with free parking and a great staff at the visitor center and we were already off to a great start. The mansion is really nice and if you can get on a guided tour you get the history of...More

Highly recommend a visit if you love gardens and looking at other personal collections of art, silver and porcelain. You do need to give yourself plenty of time to walk round everything, but it is well worth it. All staff are very helpful and friendly.

This is a different kind of "museum", a refreshing change. We came on a rainy day so it was not crowded but hard to see the gardens. I enjoy Russian history and icons, so there was a lot for me to focus on. Certainly the...More

We thought it would be a stop-by for a couple of hours but after visiting the greenhouses, Japanese garden, special Faberge exhibit and doing the mansion tour we spent five hours-/and we did not see all. The weather makes a difference, so pick a nice...More

Not sure where to start, but this was one of the best days I have ever spent in our nation's capital. If you would ever enjoy a look into what may be called " American Aristocracy " then this is definitely worth the trip. Spectacular...More

I don’t believe public transportation is available that would get you very close to the estate. We used Lyft from our hotel on Pennsylvania Ave. I believe the cost was about $40 for 3 adults one way. It’s also important... More

Parking is definitely available at Hillwood, but it’s a pretty small lot. The attendant “created” a space for me, though. Free to park.

The house is amazing and you can tour it on your own so can see as much or as little of it as you want so I recommend it. The gardens are pretty but the house is the main attraction in my opinion. Also, if you are a member... More
