We hired bikes and rode up the East River Trail to visit these wonderful gardens. Search out the 'paddi fields' with the lotus lillies - the pink flowers and the unique seed pods are stunning.

Every visit to these gardens shows us something new. On this visit recent rain had flooded many parts of the lotus and lily gardens, however still patches of magnificent color. These same rains had also brought a changed view to the areas around the river...More

My wife and I decided to visit Kenilworth for the first time since our last visit some 40 years ago. We're so glad we did! We saw many beautiful water lilies and lotuses, a great blue heron, an egret, and beautiful butterflies.

Tons of stunning and interesting-looking flowers, a boardwalk trail through the marsh, and a side trail that leads to the Anacostia River trail for those who like to bike or cover longer distances than the gardens offer. Very little shade, so don't go on a...More

To fully appreciate the aquatic gardens, take the National Park Ranger guided tour. Our ranger did a great job of explaining the park's history, the original marshlands of D.C., the importance of the lotus flower throughout the world, and the life-cycle of the hundreds of...More
