The garden has various sections like tropics & tropics and exhibits plants from that particular area/climate. Interesting to see that the temperature on each section is controlled accordingly. The day we visited, a heatwave was on and the gardens was a big relief from the...More

I've now been here 4 times on DC trips. It's truly one of my favorite places in DC. I visited the Holocaust Museum just before, and needed something beautiful and uplifting to help change my frame of mind a bit. I love comimg here!!

I love botanic garden so of course I had to go see the one in DC. It's huge, you can get easily confused in there, but it doesn't matter since you are positively distracted by all the greenery and plants. Highly recommended for everyone who...More

I love visiting the garden. It has many different areas for plants from all over the world. Of course, the orchids are always beautiful to see. One interesting section was the medicinal area that showed how plants are used for health and food supply.

Lovely inside and out! The Kids loved it as well, a nice change from the history portion of the museums around it. Go early or later to avoid huge crowds and really enjoy the gardens.

We included the National Botanical Gardens on our "Things We haven't Done in DC" trip, as we like to see gardens wherever we go. Not clear whether we could have entered the outdoor gardens before the conservatory opened at 10AM because of construction out front....More

We visited this garden because we had an hour to kill. It is literally just walking through gardens with some fake and some real displays. I think there is more activities offered for smaller children.

The gardens are lovely. At Christmas, the displays are very interesting and unusual. There is live music at Christmastime. During the summer, it is a cool place to walk and listen to the quiet.

The botanic garden was a very relaxing and calming stop on a hot, busy DC day. Great exhibits. We especially enjoyed the herb and medicinal section that highlighted so many ingredients that we use or see daily but never knew where they came from.

No, you cannot, but frankly you wouldn't want to. A slow contemplative perambulation is the best way to see what is there.
