Interesting monument constructed of two different brick sources due to lengthy delay in construction when money ran out. Nearly came to grief during a violent storm some years ago but has been fully reconstructed

You can see it and take pictures of it from many different angles, probably the most typical monument of Washington DC which could be seen from almost everywhere.

This monument is very impressive to look at. However, the lift inside broke a very long time ago and still hasn't been fixed, which is very disappointing indeed.

We spent most of the day looking at many monuments and this is another you can't miss, has history within the monument and is a must to see at night, like all the monuments in Washington beautifully lit.

Typically cancellations are done at the Visitor Centrex or at the Park Rangers Office. I have seen it being done at Visitor Centrex in some places though I have not done it .
