You are able to go the Washington Monument, however, going to the top is not possible right now. The Washington Monument is closed until 2019 for renovations. It is worth the visit even if you cannot go to the top!

My husband and I took a quick stroll after dinner to view it just as dusk was settling in. It was awesome to see you in person after only seeing it in photographs after all these years. I was a little disappointed that the inside...More

I wish I was able to take the steps up to the top but it is still under repair. It is however an amazing view from many places in the city. Amazing it was built so long ago.

The Washington Monument is located towards the middle of the National Mall in DC. The closest metro stop is the Smithsonian metro station (12th and Independence), which I would estimate is approximately half a mile away. The monument itself is an obelisk, built to commemorate...More

This is an impressive sight day or night. You can see it from all over Washington. There is lots of space that you can relax and enjoy the views.

This monument is located in the very large ground place with a lot of place of interests around. Very ease to find this place as this monument is quite high.

The earthquake we had a few years ago closed this monument. They thought they had it fixed but they didn't. Alternatives to get the view -- 1. Kennedy center roof - you can get there by cab, walking, or go to the Foggy Bottom metro...More

While the inside is still closed for renovations (supposedly until 2019), the outside is still accessible, and you can still view the Washington Monument which is quite impressive. Note that the 50 American flags around it correspond to the 50 states.

Definitely need to stop and see this monument. You can actually see it from most of Washington. Repairing the elevator and not expected fixed for a few years

This monument can be seen from all across DC, but being right next to it one realizes just how large and incredible this monument is up close. Everyone should stand beneath this giant. Beautiful.

Hello - Unfortunately the inside of the monument is closed indefinitely because of earthquake in 2011 and ongoing problems with the elevator system - still impressive to see from the outside!

Typically cancellations are done at the Visitor Centrex or at the Park Rangers Office. I have seen it being done at Visitor Centrex in some places though I have not done it .
