One of the nicest places in Washington, DC. Enjoy the breathtaking cherry blossom (usually around April, check dates); this short lived natural phenomenon is literally awesome (causes awe). The walk is very pleasant, can get a little crowded at times but don’t let that bother...More

If you can navigate the sometimes oppressive crowds, a walk around the tidal basin during peak bloom is one of the best experiences in DC. Added bonuses are stops at the Jefferson, Roosevelt, and MLK monuments along the way -- all superb!

No matter the time of the year you should consider a walk around the Tidal basin. You'll have a beautiful view towards the Washington monument. Moreover, there are several memorials along the way.

Relaxing, peaceful, gorgeous. Try to go early in the morning when there will be fewer people, especially during cherry blossom season.

Beautiful, quiet surroundings. Benches and paddle boats you can rent and a lot of festivals along the waterfront

Well worth taking a walk along the shores to relax and regroup after spending your day touring the buildings of DC.

Tidal Basin is famous for its collection of cherry trees donated by the Japanese government. It's beautiful during the cherry blossom, however, other times is just like a park with trees and a basin.

MLK, FDR, TJ and walking. Wear comfortable shoes and start. If you are at the Holocaust Museum or Bureau of Engraving you are close to walking to Thomas Jefferson, then Roosevelt and ending at ML King. If you start from this direction, walk past FDR...More

My wife and I walked around the Tidal Basin several times during our recent trip to Washington, D.C. A number of memorials are located along the edge. It is a lovely body of water. The only downside was the level of litter in the water....More
