Looks Mean

This was the place that Latvian folks avoided and used to the tallest building. I think this is cool

A very innocuous looking building on the corner of a street. The shame for us was that it was our last day and all the tours were already full. Would have liked to experience it. The exhibition inside however is free and excellent. Really interesting...More

Important to visit in order to understand present day Latvia. Not for the faint-hearted but we owe it to all those that suffered to remember their fate and promise not to let the dark forces return.

The museum itself is small and interesting, but the best thing to do is to take the tour, which you can book in advance. The tour gets you into the heart of the building where you can actually see the cells and interrogation rooms. We...More

Must do in Riga! Valuable experience, living history and really good guidance. Must be experienced in place before it is gone :-(

You can't classify it as "entertaining" place, however you should visit it, if you really want to learn something about the reality of live in Soviet occupied "independent" countries. Perhaps it is difficult to believe in everything you can see and hear here, especially if...More

This was OK, not a must do if you haven’t got time. We got to see the exhibition for free as the guided tour was booked up. It was very informative, but less of an exhibitoon. You could easily walk through in 10 min (I...More

You really need to book the tour to get the most out of this museum. The chilling part of this place is the cells and torture, execution chambers, which can only be accessed on the tour.Tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable.

I’m not too sure as we just turned up on the day and paid at the front desk for a tour.
