I visited the aquarium. It was nice but could have wished for a few more tanks with live animals. Visited on the last Sunday of the month where the museum is free which also ment it was quite crowded. The signs was in English as well :)

This museum was renovated over a year ago and now it is simply splendid. Besides the aquariums with various fish (both local and foreign), there are great exhibits of sea life, sea shells, etc. If you take the time to look at them closely and read the information provided, you will come out of this museum both entertained and enlightened. Some of the exhibits are interactive - good for children. The ticket costs 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for children during peak season (7 and 3.5 euros respectively during off-season). (The last Sunday of the month is for free!) We are locals and we visit this museum every year. What you can also do while you are here, you can go and see a dolphin show in the nearby building (the tickets cost extra).

Sea Museum is located in an ancient fortress - a place definitely not to miss! You will have a chance to explore the hispory of sea life, view seal and sea lions' show, have a walk in the dungeons and take part in interactive touchscreen quizes to test you knowledge of sea biology. Plenty of opportunities to watch aquatics in their natural habitat - including circular aquarium with live fish (some of them are really huge!!), seals and sea lions, penguins, corals and jelly fish. Interactive displays offer interesting facts and amusement for both children and adults. I visit Klaipeda almost every year - and every year come back to this museum!

After a great day on the Corunium Spit/ Nida, we decided to go to the museum even though we had missed the 4 pm dolphin show (if you take the bus out to Nida, check the return schedule... ) . Two things- it is a VERY long walk to the Museum, and there are no signs for the entrance so you end up walking to the aquarium (further) and then back to the museum entrance if you are lucky enough to find someone to ask. That cut little train/trolley thing near the ferry is what you want even though no signs or people tell you this. 3 Euro each way and worth every penny. Then the tickets on my phone were an issue. Actually, I would recommend to go elsewhere.

Where to start. The parking arrangement. We paid twice of parking fee because of unclear signs system. I only have one suggestion here - trust googel maps and do not look what signs sais. You can drive close (front off) to museum without ca 1,5 km walk, what was a small problem for us as we had old people in group. Secondly, based a good PR we expected a bit bigger/wider amont of live expetitions. Unfortunately it wasn't comparable with Aquarium in Croatia, what we visited last year. In Lithuania we planned 3 hours to walk around, but finally with 1,5h it was done. As we had more 1,5 hours to wait until booked Delfinarium show, we just sat in over crowded coffee place.
Show saved our day, because it was nice, funny and helped save "our reputation" in front of children. ;-)
All in all, at the end the mood was good and day saved! ;-)

We visited on Saturday at lunch time, it was busy but still ok as summer is over. Exhibition looks great and well worth a visit e7 for ticket. One thing not to miss- Dolphins show. Book tickets online if want to avoid queues. We spend all day wondering around. Had picnic packed but there is also cafe and gift shop. You can go to beach just 10min walk from museum. Great day out.

Very interesting sea theme exposition. Interesting experience about fishes, penguins, seals. Everything looks new after reconstruction a few years ago.

Smaller children free of charge, teenagers half price, adults - 23 eur.. Doplhins were nice and you could see how hard their trainers had been working. Seals were a bit off, at least in comparison with the doplhins. Museum it self was not so impressive, but if you buy the whole ticket, you gain access to it as well. It seemed to dark, too many people and not so exciting. And the price was too expensive, in my opinion.
It's the price of the same (but bigger) museum in Denmark, Copenhagen.
Another practical info - when going there, you take a ferry that brings you from Klaipeda to the Sea museum. The ticket can be purchasen in self service machines, and costs 1 eur (smaller children again free of charge). But save the ticket! It's valid both ways!
No real place to eat, just a small cafe with chocolates and ice creams. So prepare and take some food with you. We were there 4 hours...

Hi!
How long does the ferry trip takes? If we take the ferry(pedestrians) at 11:00 will we make to the show at 12:00?

How close is this to Vilnius town centre? And how would we best get thee? Thank you.
Written 16 March 2016
It is more than 300 km from Vilnius. You can go there by bus, train or car. Car+navigator is most comfortable choice. But not the cheapest one.
When you reach Klaipeda, then you have to take ferry to Smiltyne. You can take ferry with your car too. But į suggest to leave car in town. On the other side you will have a nice 2 km walk until you reach sea museum.
