Best beach around lake Balaton with good music and unique beachside. Adore the sand beach and the sunbeds. We return every year.
Negative - the food is horrible.

I have mixed feelings- one hand very exclusive and unique, white sand and good styled , on the other hand bit snobby and too crowded for me. Has worth to visit once

Great infrastructure with beach gym, clubs and stage for outdoor events, but unfortunately, as in all Siofok region the biggest problem was that locals weren't very welcoming (to say at least) for foreigners not coming from Russia or Austria.
2/3 of staff was rude (to say at least), and there were situations like Slovakian couple wanting to rent a beach chairs and having been told that there aren't any left, and then Hungarians getting beach chairs from the same staff member.

All the drinks and foods available at Plazs Siófok are minimum 30% more expensive than 200m below or upper from this place on the beach of the lake Balaton. The offered sun beds costs 2000,-HUF/bed on a really crowded place without beach umbrella allocated for the bed. Avoid this place, walk at least 100m more on the beach and get a normal sunbed with umbrella on half price.

Most part of Beach of Lake Balaton at Siofok is occupied by Plazas. AFor entry, there is a fee. Weekend in August, we paid 1500 Forint (approx 5 Euro) to access the beach. But same facilities can be availed at free beach area.
The reception staff was very rude and smoking in face while giving ticket.
The beach is well maintained. There is one gym, there are many cafes, and water sport on rent. Average place.

Small, walk around will take 10 minutes. Don't expect good shops. It has a few but Siofok is not really a town for shopping.

Very well organized, clean. There are different kind of opportunities to enjoy the sunshine (sunbeds, bally beds). We met only polite staff at food vendors who speak English.

It’s the fenced off bit of beach that’s maintained, clean, has the “Siófok eye” and where they hold concerts etc.
To be honest 1300HUF at the weekend (I think there’s a weekend pass option) and 1000HUF midweek for entry isn’t too bad for tourists. Children under 6 are free.
There are trees for shade and plenty of access points onto the lake which itself is great- really shallow for at least 100m with a buoy line marking out the place where the depth reaches 1.2m. It was about 26’C and calm as anything til about 5pm when the slightest waves roll in.
Lots of people bring a towel +/- and inflatable +/- a uv sun shader pop-up tent. If we’d stayed a week we would’ve done the same. We only spent a few days so paid for sun loungers (1000HUF a day) and found shade by trees.
People seem to just abandon their belongings to take a dip in the lake, there were a few small lockers near the entrance, I just popped my phone & cash card into a waterproof holder which I kept with me and didn’t bring anything else I cared too much about.
There’s a separate children’s pool (chlorinated water, not lake water), with water toys and some little play areas with ludicrously hot sand and swings/ equipment.
There are lots of WCs which are a bit of a mystery. You can use them without paying but there’s no paper provided. There’s sometimes an attendant outside and always a plate/ roll of loo paper on a table. I saw people pay and not take from the roll outside the entrance, I saw people not pay and just use the bathrooms (but no one ever took paper for free even without the attendant present), some paid and took a whole roll in!! The coins on the plate were all 100 or 200HUF. It isn’t a straightforward honesty system and we never quite fathomed the correct etiquette!!
You can come and go for the day with the wrist bands which is helpful as not many eating establishments have frontage onto the beach.
It’s a nice way to spend a day or 2. Recommend rash vests for kids and masses of fresh drinking water as getting them out of the lake is the hardest thing!!
