Second year staying at the campsite next door, second year of Grand Defiance! Two days of it. This is simply THE best high ropes site ever. So many courses you'll never get bored. Something for everyone from the tiniest on the yellow routes to the fittest and craziest on the black ones. As a could-be-fitter 40-something, red courses (from age 12) are my limit and blue (9) more my style! We asked which had the longest zipline and enjoyed blue A5 particularly. Red S2 has the longest zipline in the place. The ziplines across the lake are great fun, though on some you get an amusing free bath if you're my weight! You get 3 hours (or up to 4.5, if you wait to start at 4pm) and you'll feel a nice muscle ache in your infrequently used triceps and biceps the next day. They're taking covid seriously and expecting masks to be worn at the ticket hut and during instruction, even though it's outside. Also you have to buy €2 gloves if you havent taken your own. (Outside Covid times they lend you gloves and wash them between uses) On site are also: laser games, pony rides, outdoor escape room type games, frisbee golf, a freefall jump and more. Not sure why, since the high ropes are so good you'll never bother with them!

Really well run with so many different courses to go on. With so many different choices there was no queuing. After three energetic hours we all felt we had got our monies worth from a fun family morning. We have been to a couple of similar places and while they seemed fun they have not been anywhere near as good. Lots of staff also on hand to assist provide guidance. Not sure if the gloves were required as part of a COVID measure or are always used, I would recommend getting them anyway as they offer a level of protection on the cables. We only did the tree climb but there were loads of other activities also which other people seemed to be enjoying.

This place really was the highlight of our holiday we were staying close by in st Julian and visited no less than 3 times during our two week holiday. Twice for tree climbing and once for paint balling. Our first visit was a bit nerve wracking as I’d never done anything like it before so struggled at first but once you get the hang of it it was fine. There are courses/trails (parcours) suitable for all ages from 2 years old. I ended up doing one that was probably way past my physical ability (by mistake !) however I did manage to complete it without the need to be rescued I just couldn’t move the next day I was in agony ! Beware though if you alllow your children (or anyone else for that matter) to attempt a course beyond their ability or age recommendation and they have to be rescued you can be charged €20. My 9 year old lad put his mum to shame and whipped round the hardest adventure course (hardest course he could do at his age) leaving me crying and clinging on for dear life in the dust! There were staff on hand asking if I was ok and I later realised I could have exited the course if I’d have wanted to ! It’s free to go in if you are just spectating - you can just walk around observing and holding the bags ! There are however lockers if needed. The second visit tree climbing again - I stayed well within my range of abilities this time ! Much more enjoyable the day after ! 3rd visit paintballing for hubby and son although I didn’t go so can’t comment. Few animals to keep you occupied aswell the cutest chickens I’ve ever seen. My only criticism would be, whilst I’m well aware the park is situated in the woods I do wish they could install proper toilets with running water. The toilets were smelly and unpleasant. And no where to properly wash your hands (sanitiser is provided). And a proper forest cafe would be a nice addition to since you could spend a very long day here there is so much to do! There is a snack van but was not impressed the chap seems to make up the prices as he went along. We were charged €15 for 3 mars bars and 2 snickers ! Then the second time €3 for a mars bar and a can of apple juice ! When questioned he claimed to not understand us! Will definitely be returning ! (But not to the snack van !)

Hi Nathalie, thanks a lot for this great comment. You explain a lot of things and you tried many activities in Le Grand Défi. We are very greatfull to read it was the highlight of your holidays. We looking forward to see you again next year or sooner. PS : Concerning the toilets, it is an ecological system we want to keep, but we had a few trouble with it in august, due to the amount of people. We have the winter to fix this :-) PPS : The Snack belongs to the campsite next door, they are called "Les Terrasses du Lac". You can leave them a comment if you want. We will tell them what happen to you. Merci beaucoup. Armel Directeur

This a must for any one staying in the area we stayed at chateau la Foret so had chance to look round before we tried. Great set up and freedom to go round the park yourself and try out the different levels there is also a family area if you want to go round together. Suitable for kids of all ages ours were 8,11&12 they loved the zoo wires and the fact they had the freedom to choose the courses they wanted to do. I would also this is reasonably priced for what you get out of it and if your staying onsite and show your wristband you get a discount.
