About
Wines sculptured from the grapes grown on our 100 acre estate. Each displaying the vibrant characters of grape, soil and winemaker.Being strong advocates for sustainable farming enables us to create an environment that nurtures the vines, the body and the soul. Come and savour the sights and smells of our unique cellar door. Visit the authentic barrel hall where you may taste our wines including the famous and original Mudgee White Port. It’s over 40 years since Pieter made the first Chardonnay wine in Australia and you can read about this accomplishment in the section “About Us”. We offer self contained "Accommodation" at the Winery and a host of events and activities in the section "The Cellar Door " including food and wine pairings and recipes. We look forward to welcoming you either online or in person at Cellar Door.

Quirky and charming
Nov 2021
Charming and wonderful winery with a feisty cellar cat. Loved the sweeter tasting wines, and the reclaimed church features.

What a cool place to finish a day in touring wineries in Mudgee! So unique and homely. Great service and great wines! The resident cat was a cute addition. Highly recommended

Need a proper booking system
Jun 2021
For 4 tasters we couldnt book but when you arrive you are told its booked out!!! You need to better your system. We could book at Robert Stein for 4 ! You need to get your act together - same as The Cellar by Gilbert, they disappointed too

Kicked off our winery tour (self guided) at PVG's. First impressions count with me, so to be greeted by the very handsome and friendly Tom (PVG's cellar cat) sealed the deal.

We were welcomed into the tasting room, which is just amazing, by Clive, who got us settled in for a fantastic tasting session with Ellie.

What fun we had, tasting all the amazing tipples PVG had to offer. Standouts for me were the 2021 Verdelho, Mudgee Pipeclay White Port and the Italian Vermouth - I purchased all three to take home.

I'd highly recommend Pieter van Gent Winery & Vineyard and look forward to visiting again.

Unique
Apr 2021 • Couples
This was one of my favourite wineries in Mudgee. The cellar is so unique and something you dont see every day in Australian wineries. We mainly tried reds and they are fantastic. The girl from Germany that served us was nice and friendly, unlike customer service in some other wineries.

The Barrel Winery
Apr 2021 • Friends
This winery was such an experience with its unique atmosphere and even it’s own mini museum! Worth a visit just to see the barrels that make up the cellar door and tasting room.

So much fun

Pieter Van Gent was the first stop off on our weekend touring Mudgee wineries. We were served by BJ who was exceptional! Knowledgeable, charming and incredibly entertaining - she went out of her way to make sure we had an awesome experience. Nothing was too much. Highly recommended!

Mudgee Must Do
Mar 2021 • Friends
We visited in a group of 12 last weekend. Due to covid, we were required to be seated for the tasting but that was a real positive. Clive was fantastic, good humoured and helpful.
I would not visit Mudgee without a trip out to PVG. Wines are great but it's the ports that are the show stopper. The Liqueur Muscat is divine. Clive described it as "Christmas cake in a glass" - so true.
We will definitely be back!

Underwhelmed
Feb 2021 • Couples
We were attracted to this cellar door by the pictures of the huge barrels for a classic setting. That part didn’t disappoint, it’s gorgeous. Unfortunately the wonder kind of ended there with some average wine offerings. It’s rare that I go to a cellar door without finding at least one item I can purchase for my troubles and to be polite. This time I really struggled but grabbed a Sundance Red Blend. Having just consumed that at home I remember why I struggled. If you’re on a time constraint then there’s better Cellar Doors than this one. PS Careful of the cat ... he’s cranky!

Amazing cellar door visit!
Dec 2020 • Couples
This is one of the most interesting cellar doors we’ve been to.
The setting, building and decor is fabulous.
The wines are excellent at just $5 per person you get to try six plus a few nibbles. I drink most of my wine with nibbles in the afternoon so this was great for me, to recreate the flavours and match my wines!
Clive looked after us very well and agreed to swap a couple of the standard tasting flight offerings for ones we’d prefer.
We loved their tawny ports and muscat!
Their chardy cuvée is beautiful.
Prices very reasonable too - so we bought a few bottles!
Great experience!!
