In Sienese territory, just a few kilometres from Poggibonsi, heading towards Monteriggioni, stands a "Knight" on theVia Francigena, la Rocca di Staggia, the stones of which, like a book, tell the tale of five centuries of history.

Looking for something different after seeing the same walled hilltop Tuscan town with its city center church? Then I have something for you. It's a short drive from Monteriggioni. The Staggia castle is off the beaten path and is filled with interesting modern art. Our...More

I think those that tell you not to come here might expect too much from an old fort castle or might not enjoy personal tours with amazing history. It is a bit quirky because there are art installations in each room, but our amazing tour...More

The lady who is the tour guide is a lovely lady. She talks about freedom, falling leaves, reaching up to sun, trees in a circle. The castle is full of history but you won’t hear any history. This castle is for local use with children...More

Love this place, the village and its people from different parts of Italy. The Rocca has been transformed and occasionally hosts a wedding and 'light' shows in the summer and even a music concert... it should do more in these things. ... But, it's got...More

I write articles for history magazines, so I was looking forward to a visit to the castle. The tour guide was a lovely lady but I found her explanations of the artwork both laborious and unnecessary. Please don't think I have no love of art...More

The castle is lovely and interesting but as the other reviewers noted it's not just about the castle. Most of the tour is about an "interesting" art installation. Quite frankly, our group came out with our eyes spinning saying "what the heck was that about!!"...More

The castle and its history are worth the visit. Be advised it comes with a lovely lady who is totally immersed in the art and symbolism of the exhibition contained within the castle. Your visit may extend to 2 hours or more depending on your...More

Really interesting guided tour from a local artist/guide - who infused the impressive history of the castle and surrounds with commentary on the various functions of the castle. The guide was very generous with her time and was thoroughly fascinating.
