In cooler weather it would be a lovely place to walk around. Mathew Flinders lookout is a great place to overlook Port Augusta. Great plant shop and wonderful meals. Worth stopping and taking the time to visit.

The lunches are simple and good in a nice humble coffee shop. The setting is nice with good views to the red sands and the A/C is refreshing. Could do better coffee but it’s worth visiting.

Thanks so much for your review - I will just correct you on one thing, we focus on plants from Arid zones around Australia but not from other countries though. All the best. 😊

As an introduction to the flora of Australia’s vast arid zones, an afternoon spent wandering here cannot be beaten. Well laid out and sign-posted, you can wander the paths just for the sense of an Aussie explorer. The cafe is good for lunch too.

Located just outside Port Augusta on The Stuart Highway, the park has several interesting walks including a Children's walk. Excellent botanical displays, souvenir shop and café. Well worth a visit- and even better- it is free to enter!

Dogs are not allowed in most of the gardens. There is a lot of wild life just roaming around so I expect that’s the reason. If you get in touch with the site there are nearby kennels which will Board dogs for the day
