There are several operators, my suggestion is, do not pre-book. Go there and shop around for a good deal. Local people suggested going to Arena or iComm they are the big operators.
We went with Arena because of a good sales guy and a better deal we got, they were also well organized and well equipped with boats, gear and paraphernalia. Paid $100 for parasailing for two people, $25 per person for snorkeling (fishes and turtles), $45 per person for snorkeling with nurse sharks, stingray feeding and dolphin watching. These are standard packages, you can pick the one which meets your requirements.
This was our first snorkeling ever . My 14 year old daughter turned out to be a good swimmer in the sea as well, it was her first time, otherwise, we all can barely swim.
My suggestion to the operators is to add a short maybe 30 min intro/ training session for beginners (of course, charge for it) in shallow waters so that people like us can learn, get over the fear and value the trips more than what we did.
1. Turtle reef tour: It was scary initially, but got used to it later. The instructors were little more experienced I guess, they gave us basic instructions for snorkeling.
Could see some colorful fishes in the first stop. Would have been great if I were a better swimmer and wearing contact lens :). In the Turtle reef, there was only one turtle, and people had to swim a lot to see it. I could not see it.
We saw few dolphins on this trip, ticked the check box.
Food on the sand bank was not bad, had veg food option.
The tour team really works hard, they pitched the sun umbrellas, served food, cleaned up and also scrubbed the boat, all with a smile and seem to be enjoying. Really hardworking lot, hope they get paid well as well.
2. Sharkbay tour: First stop dolphins, it was amazing, we saw tens of them, swimming, jumping and having fun. Some of the good swimmers on the boat swam with them as well. It was pretty good.
Next, stingray feeding. It was good as well, they feed stingrays on Fulidhoo island public beach. You can touch them and pet them. Added to the attraction were some hungry nurse sharks. It was fun. No touching the sharks !!!
Sharkbay:
The team could have provided better snorkeling instructions, first timers on the boat did not know how to use the gear. However, they helped us swim, made sure we were in the photos and underwater videos. Appreciate the patience of the team guiding us.
Few boats were already there, feeding the nurse sharks, hordes of them on the surface.
They helped each person individually, making sure they got the experience. They made sure that I saw the sharks and was in the videos. Good experience, I wish I was a better swimmer.
Food on the sandbanks was good, they had Jain food option as well. For some reason, they seem to run out of vegetarian food in spite of pre-booking.
No Manta rays, it seems end of April is not the season.

Absolutely loved everything about the icom day trips. The staff are fantastic & make sure everyone is safe & happy. Unbelievable underwater photos & videos to take home.
The small group is much more personal & enjoyable. We went on Shipwreck & another full day tour. Also, we were able to arrange our departure Covid test through the office (with discount)

A country blessed with idyllic beaches and vibrant life under the sea. For travellers on a budget, staying at Maafushi is the ideal choice.
Maafushi offers wide range of hotels for staying, few varied restaurant which caters to various taste buds (Not fancy, but it will fill your belly at a affordable price).
You can walk the island in less than 1-2 hours.
The tours are arranged from the hotel or you can choose from other centers. There are a large variety of day trips available from Maafushi. These start in price from US$25:00, for half day tours.
If you are looking for simple relaxation, you can head over to the resort which also will cost approx 100-120$. We did a full day trip to Adaaran Club Rannalhi. Its a beautiful resort and good for family trips.
We did a half day tour to Sand Bank, Turtle reef and Biyadhoo reef for snorkelling. Wonderful experience of swimming with the turtles and seeing the colourful coral life. It easily done by people who can't swim properly.
If you go to Maafushi Island, don't regret to spend your money to take tours, because everything is valuable to enjoy.
Plenty of affordable accommodation options on Maafushi island that can serve as a hub for a plethora of day excursions.
Lot of options for romantic candle light dinner on beach too.
It goes without saying the best part of Maldives is under water and you have to be game enough to try snorkeling and scuba diving to get the best out of your vacation.
The thing to remember is the transport from Male to Maafushi takes 30 mins in speed boat (20$) and 1 hour 30 mints in ferry (2$).
Other than flight and hotel charges, staying for four days can cost approx 350$ - 500$ for a family of 3.

Hi. Maldives is paradise for beach lovers and maafushi is heart of paradise. Blue water make beaches more beautiful and sexy. This October month is rainy month.
Let's talk about day tour.
1. Jet skee 40 or 50 minute tour to lagoon. Takes 2adult. It fantastic show you coral from clear lagoon. Fishes sting fish and many other interested resorts but they show you from some distance as they are private. Cost 50 USD for 2pax.
2.= Full day tour it includes 2time snorkeling excellent. Dont worry if you are not a swimer then also no problem. It's amazing. This is a major attraction of this tour and then lunch at sand bank. But lunch is a rice and tiny piece of fish with slice of apple and orange and glass of juice.Better you take some snacks with you.
After this they will take you to two islands. Nothing is there only some restaurants. In my view you have to take half day tour two times snorkeling, sand bank and dolphin watching. You save money and energy to do some activities in the evening. Full day trip is 35 per pax.
3. If you are couple then romantic dinner is for you. Arrange by crystal sand it's amazing. For USD 130 including decoration and seafood with drinks and desert. Salt restaurant serve excellent food Sea side and they also arrange romantic dinner little cheaper you can bargain.
4. Night fishing excellent. A great experience 3hours tour. You catch they barbeque for you 25usd per pax.
Tours You can get it from icon or Salt restaurant or maafushi travels. I took from salt and it's amazing. Staff is very caring and helping. Maafushi travels you can contact them through messenger. They are very helpful.
If you planning to spend some nights in private island private resort please finish your water sports. So you can save big money. Water sports and adventure is very costly in private island.

Maldives,as been repeatedly told,is truly a slice of paradise on Earth. A country blessed with idyllic beaches and vibrant life under the sea. For travellers who need to stick to a budget, staying at Maafushi might be the ideal choice. Maafushi offers not only a wide range of hotels for staying, but also few varied restaurant which caters to various taste buds. Nothing fancy, but it will fill your belly at a affordable price. It is better to stay near the bikini beach, and there are a lot of hotels in that vicinity.
The tours are arranged from the hotel or you can choose from other centers. Full day trips are recommended, specially the one with snorkeling to Biyadhoo and Anantara reef along with Gulhi and Guraidhoo, and the other with sandbank tour with dolphin watching along with swimming with the nurse sharks(this truly will be the highlight of the trip) and banana reef and turtle reef. Both of these can be easily done by people who can't swim properly. Both are in affordable range (50$per head) Those who can swim better, they have better options like going to a full day trip to the shipwreck points. One can also opt for whale shark point, but it will be a bit costlier (100$ per head)
Those who love fishing can go for the sunset fishing, costing 25$. In the end, even a total novice like me hauled 5...😋!! For the hardcores there is also big game fishing.
If you are looking for simple relaxation, you can head over to the resort which also will cost approx 100-120$. Lot of options for romantic candle light dinner on beach too.

Staying for four days can cost approx 250-300$ for a couple, along with 250-300$ for basic activities for a couple.
So with 500-600$/couple+return airfare you can have your ideal tour at Maldives for 4/5 days.

My friend & I decided to go Maldives 🇲🇻 for relax & refreshing trip during Chinese New Year period. 4D3N staying at Maafushi Island. A small island about 45 minutes ferry from Male Airport.
You can walk the island in less than 1-2 hours. Nice hotel & boutique hotel facing the sea. There is one open beach 🏝 you can enjoy swimming & sun tanning. Walking over to a sand bank about 150m away from the beach shore.
We went for a day Trip to swim with MantaRay & Whale Shark & it was very rewarding & adventurous in USD85.
The food there were pretty ok. The price is still reasonable. Not much activities after dinner as the place will be dark.
Before we went back home at night, we went to Male for a walk with a local guide. Small island again & we finished walking the island less than 6 hours with our lunch.
