The Port of Echuca is a living monument to the 1870's when it was Australia's largest inland port and indeed the third largest port in Australia outside Sydney and Melbourne. Authentic steam driven paddlesteamers depart daily from the Echuca Wharf which originally extended 333 metres in length in the 1880's and has been recently been reconstructed.Home of the TV series "All the Rivers Run", the Port of Echuca will provide you with a glimpse of what live was really like in the late 1800's. With the new Discovery Centre now open, it is indeed an attraction not to be missed.

Fantastic, interesting historical great snapshot of Australian history. Tour fantastic worth the time. Great place to learn about transport (paddleboat and train) and dockyards on the murray of the day. How steam was used to drive machinery.

The tour was worth the money, simply put. Moreover, the combo deal to include tour plus boat ride plus lunch in local pub was really worth the money. Go for that, don't just take a tour.

It is good to get the feel of the environment by spending a little time absorbing the atmosphere and becoming familiar with the story Echuca has to tell.

The discovery centre is architecturally designed to look totally out of place in its historical surroundings. Queues are very slow and information is preferred with limited enthusiasm.

Weekdays are fine as you will have no problem. But if you want to go on a particular paddlesteamer, then check as some do not run every day. Enjoy your trip as Echuca is lovely!
