    Had SO much fun!
Have had five amazing days at Coronet Peak over the last few weeks. Transport: Ski bus - highly recommend. Super easy and cheap for people not comfortable driving. No worries about having to get up before car parks reach capacity (particularly in Level 2). Drivers were all friendly and very helpful! Rentals: Super efficient and quick, (though we were in early before the school groups arrived!). Good quality gear, boots very comfortable. Really helpful to use the overnight storage for the consecutive days. Cafe: very well run in level 2, good options available and still lots of places to sit outside (we were there on really sunny days so that helped!). Price of food does add up, option is there to bring your own and hire a locker for $10 a day! Mountain: Just so much fun. Chairlift crews were chatty and friendly, nice to see the medical team out and about helping people. Our third day was quite icy to start with but can't be help.. just made me learn rather quickly how to not freak out each time! Queues were absolutely minimal despite level 2. Really appreciate you guys filling the chairlifts if people wore face coverings. Sadly as we had such warm days not many had buffs on, but it really wasn't too packed. No complaints what so ever.
Kia ora Emma Thanks for your review, really enjoyed reading it. Perfect fuel to pass on to the staff who really have had a year of it and as we come to the end reading this is a boost. I hope the rest of your holiday in Queenstown was as good and look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards Nigel

    Great for Beginners
As complete newbies to the snow we weren’t really sure what to expect but ended up having a great few days at Coronet Peak and by the end had some basic skills that got us down the green slopes without killing ourselves. We bought a last minute NZSki First Timer package that included all equipment on the mountain (except BYO gloves and goggles which are not supplied or otherwise pay top dollar to buy there), access to the slopes and ski or snowboard lessons which was a pretty good deal. Everything from getting your Pass to fitout for the equipment was smooth and easy although we were lucky enough to visit when the Peak wasnt super busy and can see that at peak times it could become more challenging. In those times would def recommend perhaps organizing your pass and equipment hire in Queenstown beforehand. Beginner runs can get a bit busy at times but as you progress onto more challenging slopes it gets less crowded. Cafe and bar have basic hot and cold food and drinks at standard tourist prices or BYO if you prefer to save a few dollars, square lockers available for $10 per day but can get booked out on busier days. We found the biggest challenge was booking transport if you dont have a car like us, given the reduced bus services due to staff shortages on many days the buses are fully booked out. I would recommend booking your transport well in advance and if using NZSki, elect for the hotel pickup if possible which we found was more reliable and convenient if taking all your ski gear.

    Perfect for families
Drive up the mountain feels like something straight out of Lord of the Rings, perfect scenic view of the valley the further and further up the mountain you go. Plenty of parking space with a fast moving drop off/pick up point for buses. Snowboard + ski friendly in the winter, with relatively fast moving lift lines, fantastic views of the valley, and plenty of different difficulties for all skill levels. In my experience, Coronet Peak tends to cater mostly to the intermediate ski level. Many of the runs at a harder difficulty were barely touched the recent few times i've been there. Have had almost nothing to complain about every time we've returned.

Sightseeing not really a thing here. Mostly catered to those that ski, which I appreciate. However if not interested it’s a little limited and you are stuck till the returns on the bus start in the afternoon. Lots of staff to help with checking in, equipment and clothing hire. Unfortunately incorrect pass purchased, reception staff were amazing and fixed it up for us. Inside food hall very busy and appears some place items on tables to keep it. Seating is limited. Food options varied, not well priced and lacking quality. Staff were not clearing the stacked plates bowls. They were shuffled around. Ride on gondola was easy, smooth. Look out was amazing. Very cold of course. Enjoyed our time, watching the skiers, walking on crunchy snow. Not for sightseeing. Glad we went though.

So badly managed, parking and buses horrendous. Staff rude and unhelpful. Overcrowding and dangerous, will never ski NZ again. Overpriced and underserviced!!

Tum Tum was the most wonderful instructor you could ask for. Ever so patient and encouraging, I felt like the lesson we spent with him was the most valuable 2 hours I’ve ever had! We had an awful experience the day before (where we couldn’t get a lesson at Remarks because we couldn’t attend our lesson at Cardrona as it closed due to weather) where we attempted to learn to ski by ourselves - we ended the day feeling very defeated and not keen to ski in the following days. However, the next morning we managed to get 2 hours with Tumma and the confidence he was able to instil in us was amazing. He gave us skills and tips that allowed us to practice safely and improve by ourselves over the next few days, and by the end of the week we were comfortably skiing down the slopes and enjoying it! All credit to Tum Tum and his gentle, informative and efficient instruction. Thanks Tumma!!!

First time in snow boarding school for 2 children 10&12. Not nearly enough staff, long queues for equipment, food and toilets.

Children did not want to go back to the group lesson for the afternoon as they were given little to no instruction all morning and were tired and bored of standing around.

Ski school at Remarkables earlier in the week actually involved some teaching and the kids made great progress.

Coronet Peak boasts stunning views and is only 25-30 minutes from Queenstown. Good vibes, good runs, plenty of opportunities for younger families. It was VERY busy and for a while only one lift was operating (due to wind). Our first run followed a 45 minute wait. But once the wind behaved itself and the other lifts opened up and the sun kicked in, the experience became a whole lot more fun – a great day on the slopes!

The mountain bike trails were great, however a lot of the staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there and the main area was a bit of a ghost town. The biggest let down was the Torpedo 7 bike hire. The bike was quite frankly rubbish. It definitely needed a good service, it made horrendous rattles and creeks and the suspension was non existent. The lad who was working for torpedo 7 was also late to arrive and I kept seeing him on the hill riding? The saving grace for the bike hire was the decent helmet, Goggles and pads which you don’t always get.

Easy drive up with sharp turns to the top. Great views of the valley and the mountains. Limited food selection at the cafe.

Probably the busiest peak, and not super high so if you're going early in the season you're likely to be skiing on artificial snow - which quickly turns to ice and sludge. The slopes are also very very crowded as well as the group lessons (which are quite terrible, 100% do not recommend, just a profit churning industry). If you get the 3-peak pass, stick to the Remarkables, they're quite ... remarkable! (Bus takes 10+ mins longer)
