About
THE CASTLE OF ARGÜESO: The Castle of Argüeso was built during the 13th, 14th and 15th century, on a 9th century hermitage. It belonged to Mendoza´s family, one of de most important families of the midle age in Spain. They were called "Marquis of Argüeso" by The Catholic King and Queen in 1475. Nowadays, the castle is owned by the municipality, and it´s opened everydays as a Cultural Center. Important: it is remarkable the rehabilitatio work that has been done, because all the wood (oak tree) were handmade by local handicraftmen: the Sobaler´s Family.

This is a very small castle. It was built as a defense tower and over time grew to be a little castle with two towers. The explanation was very interesting and the visit worth wile.

We spent some nights at the nearby cosy hotel "casa de los brujas" and were recommended to visit this castle. It was a very nice experiance, a perfect mix of museum and refurbished castle. Highly recommended to visit if you strawl around in this region.

Here you can find very typical food of the region, good quality and generous dishes. Pricewise, I can say it is average.

Definitely worth a detour ..... as long as it's not too far !! Plenty of photo opportunities both within the castle and of the surrounding countryside. Heavily renovated but kids will love it. Staff exceptionally friendly - you get a brief description (the girl relished the opportunity to practice her English) and are then free to wander around. Not one for the castle purists, I guess, but I enjoyed it. As usual in this part of Spain very little, if any, information or literature in English.

Very cool inside. Very well restored. Small and very accessible castle. Place with views and charm. The brief instructions in the guide are very interesting.
