Taxis to the temple from downtown Legian are more than an hour away. Yes, yes! 10 kilometers straight on the beach, 15 on the road and over an hour by car! Everyone who goes to Kuta knows the famous local traffic jams. I don't know how long it takes to get a big bus here! Before approaching that beautiful picture , which is shown in all the photos, you will first have to buy tickets at Rs. 75,000 , and then walk through the tourist market about 400 meters. The temple is large and beautiful. Most of it is located along the coast. On the island, which at low tide becomes a peninsula, only a small part of the structures. Of course, it's better to arrive either early before the sun bakes, or around 3 p.m. after the heat of the afternoon. Coming here is definitely worth it. there are some nice blown places in the shade where you can relax by looking at the sea. It is very interesting to walk further north from the temple island and admire the rock formations of the winding shore.

Tanah Lot Temple is one of the most iconic and picturesque spots in Bali. Located on a rocky outcrop by the sea, this sacred Hindu temple offers a breathtaking view, especially at sunset. The scenery is absolutely mesmerizing, with waves crashing against the rocks and the golden sun sinking into the horizon.
The temple itself holds deep spiritual significance, and while non-Hindus cannot enter the inner sanctum, the surrounding area is perfect for exploring. The atmosphere is peaceful, with the scent of incense filling the air. If you’re lucky, you might even witness a traditional Balinese ceremony.
The area around Tanah Lot is well-maintained, with plenty of shops selling souvenirs, local crafts, and snacks. There are also several restaurants offering stunning ocean views where you can relax and enjoy a meal.
💡 Tips:
Visit during sunset for the most spectacular views.
Wear comfortable shoes, as the rocky terrain can be slippery.
Respect the temple’s sacredness and follow the local customs.
Overall, Tanah Lot Temple is a must-visit destination in Bali, offering a perfect mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and spiritual serenity. Highly recommended! 🌅🙏

Tanah lot is a temple located in the sea and claimed to be the work of 16th-century religious figure Dang Hyang Nirartha who was influenced by Hinduism. There is chain of sea temples that surrounds Bali. located along the south-western coast.
Now, if you’re hoping to stroll in, think again—entrance is strictly off-limits. this temple is absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. If you want that perfect shot, just make sure your camera’s ready to capture the glow of both the sky and the temple, and avoid slipping on the wet rocks. It is a great sight of the waves thrashing on the rocks. . There are a lot of photo spots near the temple overlooking the temple, the sea and the Balinese architecture.
It is said that the temple is guarded by the venomous snake from intruders. These slippery guardians of the temple's turf don't take kindly to intruders, and they’re probably more intimidating than your most overzealous security guard. According to legend, these snakes are there to keep the temple safe, so you better believe they take their job seriously.
There is lot of the famous candi bentar—a split gateway that greets you at the entrance, looking like it got a little too eager and split in half. This classic Balinese gateway isn’t just for temples; it’s also used at palaces and cemeteries. Y

The statue that stands magnificently on a coral rock in the middle of the ocean is a straight from fairy tale. When the sea water drops, we can walk closer and feel like a little adventure! But the most enchanting thing is that the sunset of the sky turns into golden and dwarf colors, making whoever sees must be stunned. Don't forget to go culinary around there, while enjoying the wind sepoi-sepoi. Land Lot is the perfect combination of natural beauty, culture, and happy moments. Anyway, a must visit when to Bali!

Tanah Lot ranks amongst the most visited site in Bali, so expect crowds. Also, expect souvenir shops, hawkers and restaurants. Lots of people on TA complain about the entrance fee, but I think it is a modest contribution for the upkeep of this gem.
The temple itself is a Hindu sacred site, so accessible for believers only. Fair enough.
So be happy to walk the cliff and snap one of the most picturesque sites in Bali.

Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most iconic and stunning temples! 🕌🌊 Perched on a rocky outcrop in the sea, Tanah Lot offers breathtaking views, especially during sunset. The temple's unique location makes it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Bali. At low tide, you can walk across the beach to reach the temple and explore its surroundings. The sight of the waves crashing against the rocks adds to the mystical atmosphere.
The area around Tanah Lot is well-developed for tourists, with numerous shops, restaurants, and cultural performances. Despite its popularity, the temple retains a serene and spiritual ambiance that captivates visitors.
Visiting Pura Tanah Lot is not just about the temple itself but also the overall experience of the coastal scenery and Balinese culture. Whether you're a photography enthusiast, a spiritual seeker, or just someone looking to enjoy a beautiful sunset, Tanah Lot will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

I was now in January 2025 and it is not at all overcrowded, I was at 12:00 in the morning and it was not bursting, you could get the photos and video right...
It costs 75,000.... about 4 Eur, I don't see it as expensive as people say, it's laughing....
The sea temple can't be entered, only from below, and if it's out the tide you can get something... I couldn't be high.
The construction of the temple is not the bomb you say, but it has its roll being in the sea, which is the only...
As for getting there arm yourself with patience for traffic, it is a.disaster this island for transport, for me it loses many points Bali.... Organization and logistics 0.... This third world...

Entry Fee was 75k, when you reach, will see alot of stall & people selling lots of souvenirs, even civet cats or luwak kopi stall. As people claim it was a must visit places. Its still worth a visit & good places to take some photo of the stone temple located in the sea & view the sea waves

I visited the temple during low tide. One could therefore go to the island/temple. However, you cannot get close to the temple, as access to the island itself was not permitted. You could also walk along the cliff and see other small temples.
The whole complex is quite focused on tourism, there were countless souvenir shops, each with the same goods on offer. The entrance fee was 75 k IDR.

Nice and busy sight. Lots of people, lots of "souvenir shop" where 99% junk is sold. The resturants are downright dirty and filthy, you don't want to be found dead there. With my drone I had to apply for/buy an exemption on the spot a €89 !! There is nothing mentioned about that at the entrance or online. Again purely sewing an ear to the tourist!! Very sorry Bali

Does anyone know if the Kecek dancing performed on a Thursday and/or Friday evening (in addition to Saturday and Sunday)? Also can you buy tickets before you get there? Thank you.

I think the Kecak dance is performed every day, several times (at least twice). Yes I think you can purchase tickets in advance - we did.

Truly no idea. As such I feel these are all way to make money from tourists. My purpose to visit any place is to enjoy natural beauty and history of the monuments.

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if it is a prerequisite to be religious when visiting temples in Bali? I am not religious (sadly I lost my spirituality when I was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and do not want to cause offense to local customs. I would also wonder if there is a dress code to adhere to? I would describe my general attire as fairly non revealing, but of course these things can be perceived differently by others.
Thanks in advance,
Chuck P

Hi brother. I will try to explain about your question. Actually any personality and any health conditions that you experiance, do not prevent you to coming in Bali at the tourist attraction of the tample’s like Tanah Lot. The tample beside the holy place is also one of the tourist attractions becouse of the beauty of its shape exotic natural beauty.
Indeed to visit a holy place like a tample must be dressed in a polite and appropriate because after all its the culture in local belief.
Even by coming there you can get a new experience to be more peacefull after returining from Bali. Peace of mind is one of the medicines that can cure any disease as long as you find a sense of peacefull and hapines, it’s one of Bali culture beliefs.
Thank you
Kindly regarsd from Bali 🙏

Is it possible to get garb or gojek bikes while returning from tanah lot?
Thanks!

Although Grab is available in Bali but only in selective areas.
I really don’t know why?
Maybe because they wish to promote people hiring private cars & bikes.
Bikes are available just outside this place.

Hi!!! Is this temple closer to Seminyak? We'll be staying at kokonut suites and want to know the taxi charges to this place? Do they charge for foreigners?
Thanks in advance!!!

Easiest way around is to hire a driver, cost me $50au for the full day.
When going to TanahLot make sure you use your amenities before you go as they are filthy at the temple and you have to pay for the privilege
