This is a rather creepy festival, to remind us we will all die!
There is a theatrical presentation in the open air in the village, which you have to buy tickets to see, and make sure you buy in advance, as there are usually only a handful available on the day, which you have to go and queue up for at 16.00h.

It lasts about 2 hours (so wrap up warmly) and depicts the last days of Christ, the production is in Catalan. At the end of the performance Roman soldiers, enter the square to take Jesus Christ, along with the other condemned criminals in a procession through the streets of this ancient village. They are accompanied by 2 adults and 2 children, dressed as skeletons, dancing to the sound of a drum. Very atmospheric and the crowds were in awed silence.
In the afternoon there is also a presentation with Roman soldiers in the streets at 17.00h, this is free to view, as is the procession, and probably better suited to children.
This is a production performed by locals and the history goes back centuries.

It's a part of a attraction in Verges, Baix Empordà, maybe scarry but funny. It's courious how they dance. You have to see it!
