Art, industrialism and nature in a marvellous mix
Oct 2020
Such a marvellous museum: I can really understand The New York Times’ recommending this place. The combination of art museum and manufacturing museum is brilliant. Probably one of the best museums I have visited. It covers history, art, industrialisation, manufacturing and nature. Warmly recommended to visit - preferably in nice weather.

So proud Norway has this park!
Jun 2020
A big outdoor sculpture park, an hour away from Oslo, placed in scenic surroundings. It also has two galleries and a factory museum (as the park is situated on the grounds of an old pulp pill which in itself is an important industry heritage).
Among the sculptures you find the works of Kusama, Kabakov, Botero, Cragg, Eliasson.
My favorite piece is fabulous The Twisst by BIG - Bjarke Ingels.
It a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture. Absolutely gorgeous. The spot they picked for it is amazing

Nice walk in the park
Jul 2020
It is a nice, tranquil park with a walk of about 2,5 km. Not too interested in contemporary art, I cannot say much about the statues (except appreciating Energy-Matter-Space-Time by Petroc Sesti)

A contemporary experience in beautiful surroundings
Jul 2020
Will definitely recommend a trip to this out- and indoor sculpture- and art park. Nice, and the size is just right - varied terrain with nice small gravel roads along both sides of the river. Interesting sculptures and other pieces and installations of contemporary art. The building/gallery The Twist, crossing the river, is of course a piece of work! Suitable for all ages. Nice little outdoor cafe area.

A spectacular art gallery in pastoral surroundings
Jul 2020
The combination of an art gallery and an outdoor pastoral area richly furnished with funny and crazy modern sculptures is what makes this a special attraction. The main gallery building is in itself an extrordinary sculpture with its twisted form. It contains a collection of modern paintings which is renewed on a yearly basis. Among the many spectacular sculptures or installations in the open green area an amusing fountain halfway enclosed by reflecting pillars probably draws the main attention, not least among children who love to play in the water. The museum also contains the well preserved remains of a wood pulp factory which was operating from 1889 to 1955. The art and sculpture part of the museum is nevertheless the most appealing part. To access the museum by public transport is unfortunately troublesome (but not impossible).

My wife dragged me here. And I have to say I enjoyed it.
Nice outdoors. Very interesting art in a cool landscape. The Twist, with the art inside, is worth a look!

Worth a visit
Jul 2020
A very nice summer Sunday, the parking lot was full and the queues to the food serving was extremely long and a fight to find a place to sit. Besides that it was great. Great art work, nice outside areas and the Twist was fascinating. Absolutely worth a visit

Doubtful experience during covid-times
Jul 2020
Nice sculptures, however the total experience was not so good. Too crowded, long ques, muddy pathways. Green areas not well kept. The minimum distances between people were not kept at all.

Not just great architecture. Very enjoyable art curation too.
Jun 2020
Totally worth the little trip from Oslo. This place is so much more than great architecture (The Twist). The indoor gallery and outdoor installations are exceptionally well curated. Even the non-art lover I visited with was impressed. The highlight of the cafe (food truck) was the savoury pancake.
