Wonderful time a big thanks to the water powered forge operator and the blacksmith who after a whole explanation in french had the time for my family in English.
PLEASE at least inside the museum where the tools of different trades are beautifully displayed PLEASE again a description in English is very appreciated i think after all these reviews begging for English something could be done the place is lots of fun and educational worth the visit but again it could be GREATER if at least we could read the description

We arrived mid-afternoon and unfortunately didn't really have enough time to visit everything and experience all the exhibitions. You really need a good half-day. Lots of the demonstrations occur at the same time and are at hourly intervals so to see them all takes several hours. The commentaries are in french but you'll get the gist if you just watch. We particularly enjoyed the basket weaver. The restaurant wasn't open while we visited so suggest you take your own food and drink. Well worth a visit.

Good Morning ! Thank you for the review ! It is a pleasure to read you enjoyed your experience at Forges de Pyrène. :) Activities have been proposed at different hours so you can do one after another. But, yes, there is a lot of activities and we advice more than 3 hours to do all of them. Have a nice day and see you soon :)

We enjoyed our day at Les Forges. It would have been better if we spoke French but it was still worth it. The working forge powered by water was really cool and the kids also enjoyed the old fashioned games.Spent probably two to three hours here and then had lunch on the grass in the shade across the parking lot by the creek.

Went with our daughter and small grandchildren. Some very interesting things to see - especially the various activities on at various times. But for English speakers perhaps a little difficult, as the demonstrators naturally spoke in (rapid) French. Some nice play equipment for children - but the demonstrations seemed likely to be a bit hard for them.

One big disappointment - we were there on a lovely Sunday afternoon - the restaurant was closed (after Sunday lunch presumably) and so there were no cafe facilities! That is to say, no drinks available, no ice cream. How is one expected to stay for several hours to take in all the various displays without any refreshment? Very odd and very disappointing.

Good morning, Thank you to taking time to rate us. We take note of your comment. To make your travel through time more special, our entertainers train regularly in order to be able to explain in several languages the old trades they present. Moreover, there is now a "guinguette" in site to take a coffee, eat artisanal ice cream or drink local beer or lemonade :) Have a good day !

I think we'd have got a lot more out of this if we could all speak better French, as it is there wasn't much to do in terms of interaction for the kids and we weren't hugely impressed. Others have found it great though, so maybe we missed something!

You will find here , presented through an excellent museography tools, machines, and products of the different crafmanship and industrial activities of the last century.
But on the extensive estate, on the bank of a river, there are small houses presenting in action some of the most important crafts such as baker or blacksmith. It is really impresive to see how were ironworks until the WWII.
You must not miss it if you pass near Foix.

Not real fun for non French, cause everything in only in French. All info written & spoken & signs are only in French. And then 30 min. presentation in French with lots of talking and not real action is too much for non French adults and kid of 6/7 years.
We did also expect real farm animals.... none.
Or kids to be able to do own search for "gold" in river.
What was very impressive & good combination of talk (trying English & even Dutch) & action is the old and still working on waterenergy iron & steel workplace. 🍀
