About
The San Michele Brewery began in October 2010, born from a passion for artisan beer. We wanted to let others know the taste of real beer - live, non-filtered beer that was once the only kind that people drank, but for reasons of business and big industry, underwent so many changes it became almost unrecognizable from its original characteristics. Today we live in an era of food identity crisis that only seems to be getting worse, and we are losing touch with reality with the foods that we consume. The San Michele Brewery has made it a goal to create greater awareness with the world's most consumed and diffuse beverage: beer. With this goal in mind, we also hope to debunk the many myths that surround the art of pairing food with beer during lunch and dinner. Our passion for beer - non-filtered, artisan production, fresh mountain water, use of some organic raw materials, and the care and attention we take for each and every bottle - allows us to obtain a superior beer that pleases all your senses. We think of San Michele beer as an 'Opera of Passion', in which their names, colors, labels, and bottles are not thrown together by chance. Instead, they derive from a precise fit with the perceptions and emotions that each beer provokes, from visual, gustatory, olfactory, and tactile sensations. Some even seem to carry us to a different time and place with just a sip.... Not even the seat of the San Michele Brewery is a random choice. The brewery is situated in an old building from 1860 in the town of Sant'Ambrogio, surrounded by greenery from the natural habitat of Mount Pirchiriano that allows us to offer a product of such excellence. Last but certainly not least, the Sacra di San Michele overlooks the brewery, which was inspired and named for this ancient, mystical abbey. We wish to share these sensations and history with you. We invite you to come and visit us to discover the surprises that await in these precious places.

I went here for dinner and drinks with a friend. It was a great surprise! It was during the summer heatwave and it was great to have an option away from the city where you can sit outside. There is a lot of space, the tables are well distanced and the venue is very charming. The food was really good and the staff very friendly. And of course there is a great selection of their own beers. I can't wait to go back!

The place is nice, big, and you have a lot of beers to try. Problem is that it is so noisy! Price per beer around 5 euros. Food looks amazing, but I didn't try it.

I highly recommend visiting this brewery if you're in the area. Bruno tells you about how his dreams became a reality and former IT guy became an award-winning brewer. While English is not his first language, Bruno speaks very well and made sure we all understood what he was saying and the process of brewing beer. As someone who does not regularly drink or enjoy beer I was hesitant in visiting but it was great! There are a variety of beers so you are guaranteed to find something you like. Also, you NEED to stay and try the food as well. It is to die for. Visit their separate restaurant page to see more details.

If you are in the Torino area and a fan of good beer and good food, you MUST visit San Michele. The beers are well-crafted and appropriately named for operas that bespeak their character.

Among the many delicious dishes we enjoyed while dining with a tour group, the pork shank can only be described as out of this world. While our menu was specific for the group, a glance around the room assures that virtually any diner would find something to their liking.

Well worth the trip!

I've reviewed the beer and food elsewhere. It's excellent.
The brewery itself is nicely done. As you'll see in the various pictures, it is at the base of a mountain with an abbey at the top. This makes for a picturesque setting. The brewery itself has also been nicely renovated. The lamps as you enter are made from beer bottles. Inside, the walls are decorated with a combination of artwork from the beer bottles and posters from opera (after which the beers are named.
From the main room, there is a large window so that one can see into the brewing room. When I visited for dinner, the dining room filled with what seemed to be locals.
All in all, it was quite fun.

This is a great brewery in a newly refurbished building, named after the landmark that overlooks it, Saint Michael's Abbey (which is also the symbol of Piedmont). Hike up there, visit the Abbey (the Sacra), then when you come back down, the brewery is close by and perfect for a post-hike brew. It's spacious and open on the weekdays & weekends, and you can check out their brewery rooms if you ask. The beers are awesome, and named after famous operas. They've won several awards, and my favorite is a smoked beer, so delicious!
