Pleasant stroll on a hot day
Jun 2021 • Couples
Strolling beside the river was very pleasant on hot day. Occasionally stopping to sit on a bench we saw the skirmishes taking place between the different birds with the larger ones always winning out

Lovely riverside strolls
Jun 2021
Nice to sit beside this river and watch the ducks, geese and swans, not to mention the large trout.
Also had a pleasant walk through Scots Garden to Holme Hall and a 17th century packhorse bridge.

Great place for a mini-wedding reception
May 2021
Had a great time after a wedding in the Town Hall, with champagne and canapés on the river, and a lovely backdrop for photos.

I really enjoy these rivers.
May 2021 • Couples
We enjoyed our visit to Bakewell and the River was a lovely way to spend time but we particularly enjoyed the Wye at Ashford in the water.
This village was delightful and my wife and I were mesmerised by the River and wildlife particularly the many trout that were leaping up and snatching the bread that was being thrown to the many ducks.
The River is extremely clear and a lovely relaxing place to sit.

Relaxing space
May 2021
Beautiful scenery - very tame ducks and some huge fish clearly visible in the crystal clear water. If you are in Bakewell, its well worth a stroll down to the rever bridge and along the bank.

Sunny Sunday in November visit (COVID-19 era)
Nov 2020
Nice run out to Bakewell in the car from Sheffield on a sunny but cold November Sunday afternoon.

Many cafe's and shops were open in accordance with COVID-19 rules (lots of queues outside etc.) but you could get fish and chips, cups of tea, snacks etc with ease. Bought some duck food from a local pet shop and fed the ducks whilst walking down the river. Really nice day.

Cosy place
Sep 2020 • Family
A lovely sunny afternoon spent in Bakewell. Such a lovely historic town with beautiful scenery. The bridge known as ‘love lock bridge’ was really pretty. Managed to buy a padlock from one of the shops in town (5 mins walking distance to the bridge) 🔐

There’s a Monday market happening so was slightly busier than usual and parking can be hard to find so avoid Mondays! Local fish and chips was absolutely delicious and not to mention the over priced ice cream vans 🍦

Bloomers of Bakewell is the place to buy your tarts! Definitely worth the visit and a perfect family day out 🥰

Interesting shopping experience.

Lovely town Bakewell with many quaint shops & good foods. Always busy. Good parking & well maintained streets. A bridge over the river displays many snap on locks placed there by lovers. Treat yourself to fish & chips and watch the wildlife on the river. Many seats to chose from.
