Beautiful scenery!

Beautiful scenery. Make sure you wear appropriate walking footwear.
Old train tunnels to walk through are very cool.
Great day out with friends.
Make sure you have change for the car park in case the card machine isn’t working.

Great afternoon easy cycling route for all ages
Nov 2021
Hired a couple of bikes for the afternoon and had a pleasant afternoon following the route, stopped at one of the cafes on route for a hot chocolate and to use the very clean loos,
route is mostly flat so suitable for all. will return in the summer

Nice and easy trail
Nov 2021
The trail is very easy to walk as is pretty much flat throughout the route. You do get nice scenery at parts, while being able to walk through the tunnels. We decided to walk the trail but I would recommend hiring a bike, which would have been a lot easier especially on the way back when our legs were already tired from the walk! There are maps at certain locations showing the main sights along the route, but the issue is that it does not show exactly where you are in terms of the trail and so makes it hard to know exactly how far you are certain sights. It would be great if they provided more details. Also, there are times where you are surrounded by trees or high rock walls so you do not get to see much landscape and far out views.

Fab scenary.

Great flat walk, great views in places but long stretches where the beautiful trees obscured the view. Could not easily work out how far away the next stopping point in terms of rest and refreshment was and most of these stopping points except the Millars Dale where a short walk off the the trail. Managed 8 miles from bakewell Town via the Coombe road access to millars Dale. We walked to the trail start via Coombe rd but I would advise leave car at Hassop train Station hire bikes and do whole way past millars Dale. Tunnels and scenary around these are stunning. As I went tired i sometimes wondered where we could get off the trail it wasn't cleared how far away anything was.

Bike ride on Monsall Trail
Oct 2021
Drove from Birmingham to Hassop Station about 60 miles and cycled the entire route which I found easy on an electric bike which to be fair a conventional bike would have sufficed, wonderful views and the tunnels which are well lit are an engineering masterpiece as when they were cut out there would not have been any modern machinery available, also the Monsal viaduct with breathtaking scenery,I paid £5.50 to park at Hassop Station for a full day but I returned within 3 Hours,a highly recommended bike ride for all ages.

Lovely walk for all levels. Just slipeeey when wet and some areas a bit narrow. Did with 2 children 8 and 9. Both managed fine and did around 8k all over. Walked from the Monsal head hotel, walked to the left all the way down to the waterfall, over the bridge and then the forestry up to the A6 car park. Walked back and then round the other way so we could go over the bigger bridge and the tunnel opposite it. Nothing spectacular scenery wise but lovely fresh air and a healthy hearty walk.

How great to revisit the magnificent Monsal Trail again after around 30 years. The views are magnificent and now being to enter and explore the previously locked and creepy looking Headstone Tunnel is great . Well worth visiting.
