About
The historic Linacre Reservoirs provide the perfect setting for a quiet, relaxing day out. A network of trails and footpaths crisscross the valley. Visitors can explore ancient beech and oak woodlands or follow the course of the Holme Brook as it cascades down the valley. The peaceful setting means the site abounds with wildlife. Nuthatches, flycatchers and woodpeckers can be seen and heard as they flit among the canopy and kingfishers and mandarin ducks can be spotted around the waters edge. The site is accessible all year round. Car parking There are three small car parks along the main entrance road to the Linacre Reservoirs. Car parking at Linacre costs £1.00 for up to two hours and £2.50 for the day. An annual parking permit for up to two cars costs £25.00.

Lovely summer walk
Jun 2021
A lovely place for peaceful walks , especially as the car park machines were not operating. The paths were well kept and it was very relaxing to walk through the trees.

Fantastic Place for families and Dog Walkers!
Jun 2021
Linacre Reservoir is a large wooded area that is perfect for any dog walkers or families wanting to go exploring or for a picnic.

I have been to Linacre from being a very young child to an adult and to this day always have fond memories of the place!

Gentle Bank Holliday stroll
Apr 2021 • Family
The Bank Holiday sun was irresistible and we hoped to avoid crowds at the coast by staying local. Having previously been regular visits, we hadn’t been here for some time due to lockdown and it was nice to be back.
The parking machine was out of order which saved us a couple of quid, but the ice cream truck sitting in the car park soon took care of that.

Lovely scenery, not too busy despite car parks being relatively full. People social distancing and passing with care. Lovely way to spend a couple of hours taking in the views.

Moorhen chicks
Apr 2021
We enjoyed a welcome return for a relaxing walk around the three reservoirs through the trees and beside the water. Lovely to see several mandarin ducks and delighted to see a family of moorhens with three chicks right beside the path by the water's edge. After a few photographs we witnessed a fight when a marauding coot launched an attack with his eye on the chicks, but the parents defended well and the babies were spared. We finished off with a picnic at the site near the car park overlooking the lake, soaking up the sun and appreciating the beauty.

Absolutely beautiful Autumn colours
Nov 2020 • Friends
Visited with my sister in law on a gorgeous Autumn afternoon. Though the car park was busy. The area is so large that it never feels crowded.
When I visited a few weeks ago there was a one way system in operation. The notices have been taken down. This is a pity as the boardwalk is narrow and passing can be difficult.

Lovely walk
Nov 2020
We enjoyed our walk around the three reservoirs, especially on the boardwalk section where you can get close to the different types of ducks. The Autumnal colours were beautiful and we hope to return in the spring for the display of bluebells.

A peaceful walk...
Oct 2020
A lovely walk around the Linacre Reservoir, a fairly long walk so make sure you wear good footwear. Very peaceful place and would recommend to friends and family. Car parking is near and is fairly priced.

The most gorgeous woods....
Sep 2020
We were lucky enough o visit on a beautiful, mid - week, September day. No problems parking at all....and we had the most lovely few hours. The woods are wonderfully managed and maintained - and although there were other people about ( of course! - we didn't expect it to ourselves...) it felt so peaceful and quiet. Plenty of nature and wildlife as we ambled around and pleanty of palces to stop and sit for 10 minutes. The paths are wide and not at all muddy - and we saw a few people with child buggies - so great for families too. Takes about 2.5 hours to walk around the whole site - but if you just choose 1 or 2 reservoirs it's much quicker.

Scenic views and walks at Linacre
Aug 2020
My family went for relaxing walks around Linacre reservoir in Derbyshire, we had wonderful weather and the views from the middle reservoir up and down the valley were beautiful. Parking was available nearby but we did have a bit of difficulty finding the carpark, just check your maps for the carpark location.

What a lovely place
Aug 2020 • Couples
Came upon this gem whilst visiting the area. It is a great place for walking and relaxing. There are different walks, a one way system, toilets and so much space to enjoy this. It is so quiet you can hear the water trickling and allows you to walk right next to all 3 reservoirs. Only cost is parking, £1.50 for 2 hours or £3.00 for all day (we would recommend all day). You can walk to the pub in the next village from the reservoirs.
