Dirty and foul.
Not a great 15 minutes i spent there!
dont waste your time
The area is typically dirty and plastic is strewn all around
oil is dumped everywhere when they service jetskis and boats there

Felt at home

First of all, if you are the fancy type, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. It is the most relaxed and lay back atmosphere. Amazing vibe, backpackers atmosphere. It is truly paradise that words can't describe.

People drinking and smoking all day, loud music until 2pm. Definitely, not a place to relax. Beach is nice, you can walk but cannot scape from noise and dirt

Quiet and more Cambodian than the other beaches.
Very small town bars Along the beach no tourist souvenir shops. Really lovely. Walk right Along the beach for privacy.
We loved it.

Will Definitely Return

We loved it here. Smaller, quieter and not as picturesque as Saracen Bay but still has loads to offer. Bars, restaurants and a nice beach once you walk far from the pier. Some decent accommodation about that's not available online so would recommend walking around to find it instead of booking online. Food nice, decent price and people are so friendly. Boat taxis to Saracen available daily for 10 dollars return. Will definitely return in the future.

Forget time. This little place on this little island is perfect for lazy days. Not very developed compared to other more touristic islands in the region, but charming as no other. Beautiful beaches, clear water and friendly people. But civilization is moving in fast, so hurry up and visit.

Lovely

I really enjoyed my time here. I was traveling with just my dad and he was very skeptical at first because he wanted to stay on the white sand of Saracean, but in the end we were both very happy that we stayed in mpai bay.

It is a very special place, not meant for everyone aka if you are high maintenance, this place is not for you--go to Saracean where it is resort-y and you can be confined to your hotel. Yes, it is small, but that means you can take the chance to get to know everyone around you. Everyone in the village is very friendly and helpful. There are actually still locals that live there, which is nice to see.

Yes, there is litter, but every day you will see people cleaning it up. (For those who complained--did you help clean it??) It is just the way it is that the trash will float in from somewhere else. It is a huge problem as a general whole in Asia, not just here.

There are lots of places to go snorkeling at and there are quite a few restaurants that serve great food as well.

Remote & Peaceful, but Bad Litter Problem
Nov 2019
I really enjoyed my 4 days & 3 nights staying in a guest house on this beach. It had a local, peaceful, feel, was super underdeveloped yet had guesthouses/hostels with good food (Western, Italian, Cambodian, etc) & a ferry stopped right there. I loved that the kids from the village played soccer on the beach every night. HOWEVER, the litter is out of control & the water wasn't super inviting when I was there. I did love how remote it felt, so realize I have to take the good with the bad.
