This quiet old church is in a more secluded corner on the north side of the old town. It's worth pushing open the door and venturing inside. When your eyes adjust to the darkness you'll see there's a light switch which will then illuminate the interior. Then you'll see how old it is! There's also a faintly disturbing memorial to WW1 - a huge soldier lies at the back of the church, dressed in distinctive WW1 junker style. On the wall to his left are plaques to Lindau's dead from two world wars. The information is honest about some of them belonged to the SS and makes no bones about how bad this was. All in all, therefore, it's a fascinating place to visit.

It is only when you go inside and see what this old church is like that you realsise its significance. The building itself is more than 1000 years old, and is now a war memorial. mostly to German soldiers, with also a Jewish mention There are also with many frescos that are worth seeing.

Only by going inside can you get a true feel for the historic church. Although it memorialized the German fighters, it also now mentions the killed Jewish people.Lovely historic murals.

This church hosts a centuries old series of paintings of the Passion. It also houses a memorial to those list in the wars of the 20th Century from all sides of the war. Outside is a small but beautiful garden, looking at the church and old tower with multi coloured tiles on the roof.

Peterskirche is a bit off the tourist track. It does not have a tall steeple, but its steeple is a fascinating one that is rich in color. Its interior has two main features; murals fro the Middle ages and a memorial to fallen German Soldiers from the Wars and victims of the regime of the 40's. It is a site that is worth visiting in all manner, and one that will make you contemplate the past both ancient and more recent.
