It is a four-spired Cathedral, which has the tombs of Emperor Henry II and Pope Clement II. It is massive and well worth a visit.

This is one of the most impressive German cathedrals I've ever visited; with the four towers (two were under scaffolding), the Bamberger Dom is a superb example of Late Romanesque design. In addition to some great art and sculpture, such as the Bamberg Horseman and...More

We took a walking tour of the city and went by this old cathedral. This cathedral is situated on a hill and cannot be missed due to the four spires topped with oxidized copper. They were having a wedding at the time, so we did...More

My wife and I make the climb, but were disappointed that we could not get into the Dom. It is under repair and will be for several years apparently. Great views of the city however.

Inpressive building with a good interior but it didn't really wow us. In General we found Bamberg to be very disappointing. No parking, nothing but tourist priced food, etc. Go to Coburg or Bayreuth instead.

A beautiful building to visit that makes you wonder how these builders were able to accomplish such feats of construction back in the times when these buildings were built. Amazing feats of construction and craftsmanship that do not go unnoticed by even the most causal...More

This cathedral is a transition from romanesque to gothic, and completed in 13C. Inside is Tilman Riemenschneider's exquisite tomb of Henry ll and his wife, Kunigunde who weeps at his death bed. It took this wonderful artist 14 years to complete and is very unusual...More

Hi, We visited this year and I see from the plan that the Sacrament Chapel is marked number 13 and is on the left hand side entering from Adam's Portal just before The Chapel of the Nail. Hope this helps.
