This is a great, fun, place especially for people who have attended a Carnevale masked parade. Often, at least during Carnevale season, at least a few hanger doors are open so you can peek in at the floats. The museum is definitely worth a look....More

I came to Viareggio specifically for carnival in Feb 2017. The citadels a was a must see destination to see the home of the floats and artists studios...they tend to be open morning and afternoons but shut during siesta times midday-2pm...it was hard to find...More

Only open Saturday and Sunday morning when we visited. Take the number 22 bus to the Cittadella to avoid a long walk. We were the only visitors, you have walk the full length of the compound to find the entrance and ticket office. Tells the...More

If you are in the area during February then do not miss. It is incredible. A really great atmosphere and great fun for all ages. Book tickets online for best deals and to avoid queues. We will definitely be back!!

Incredible to watch and experience for the first time. The people make it all worth it, with their high energy and costumes. A treat for the senses, and certainly worth a visit to Viareggio during a chilly part of the year.
