Lovely, lovely lake. The water temperature wasnt that cold art the start of May either. Would love to come back in the summer, winter and Autumn.

The lake is beautiful and surrounded by many great hotels and restaurants. Plenty of attractions to fill your days and good restaurants to fill your evenings. We stayed at regina palace which is beautiful but there are dozens of similar luxury hotels around the lake.

The picturesque lake running alongside stunning mountains is a sight to behold. You must take a boat ride and with the Islands that adorn the lake.

Don’t miss the boat ! You absolutely have to visit the Borromean Islands! They’re gorgeous! My favorite is Isola Bella and its Palazzo with splendid terraced gardens where you can see beautiful white peacocks walking around, huge azaleas and majestic trees. Stop by the gift...More

I have to limit my description to the southern region of the lake which to be frank I found very disappointing, the area was commercialised but looked like it had seen much more prosperous times.

Laggo maggiore is beautiful in summer but we decided to go and relax in winter time. Even though many restaurants and museums are closed from November until March you can still enjoy the beauty of the lake and its villages. You can take a boat...More

I would go to Stresa which is a small resort town of 5.000 inhabitants with everything on it and good enough for Hemingway.

I went in late September and only needed a very light coat. If you prefer it warm I'd go in June/July.
