Lovely Dolomiti mountain pass posessing many breathtaking landscapes. Accessible by car, but be careful especially during the winter.

Perfect time to visit with a small front wheel drive car with winter tyres. It did snow but not too hard and roads were cleared. We did a circular drive - Brescia - Ortesi - Passo Sella- val venegia - Panneveggio - Brescia. It turned out to be one of the best one day trip I have done. Amazed by the beauty and taken aback by the scenes

What a fantastic landscape this place. We drove from Bolzano to Cortina through this nice road to see those fantastic roads. There’s here a nice point of view. If you are lucky to have sun as we had it’s really gorgeous.

On our journey around Sella Ronda we made a stop at Passo Sella. was. It was a sunny day and we had wonderful views onto the mountains all around. We also saw two marmots running around about a hundred metres away.

Passo Sella as the name suggests, is a mountain road passing through Dolomites if you're driving from Canazei. This has become very popular stop now because there are some more hotels and restaurants that must've been built due to people constantly stopping and camping along the road. Also there is a cable car too which is either new or I just didn't see last time I was here. Parking is kind of a problem in summer months because it is a narrow two lane mountain road so most people just park in a gravel layby or whatever ditch they can find to fit their car in.

Hiking options are plenty. No matter which direction you go or trail you take, you'll find the beautiful views. But to access and see the three peaks Alpe di Siusi from other side, you have to keep driving and take a cable car from any town further from the Sella.

This hotel is a find, because it is so different from all the other hotels in the area. At 2'150 meters (7'100 ft) located just below the pass of the same name sets it apart from the many hotels in the Val Gardena that are all at much lower altitude.

The hotel has been completely new built in 2013 where once an old "Refugio" stood for many years. The inside is all wood, which you can smell as soon as you enter the upper two floor where the rooms are located.

Excellent facilities with generous underground garage, sauna and a pool, which is nicely done, but not really suitable for lap swimming.

The service, especially in the restaurant, matches the decor and is first rate too, as is the food at dinner or breakfast, that were included.

It is not a "wellness hotel" for sedate guests, but ideal for active hiking, climbing or biking, because the trails are starting right at the hotel, and of course one can perfectly relax after a day's activities. Of course there is also a bus stop for local transport to other places in the Dolomites.

Beautiful pass on the Sella Ronda. Lots of walking in the vicinity. Parking very busy. Theres a hotel and some opportunities for refreshments. The queues for the coffin lifts can be VERY long.
