The cathedral is very interesting but there is a little chapel where Piero Della Francesca is buried. It is very beautiful. There was one of the guides there who was really helpful and explained everything.
The paintings and Della Robbia sculptures were excellent.

Though the church is much simpler than many of the other Cathedrals in the country, it is a nice quiet spot to enjoy the history and culture of the town. Make sure you check out the sculptural details in the front right corner of the church.

Stop by to see this cathedral while visiting the museum in Sansepolcro. Lovely interior and some beautiful artwork.

It's so easy to become jaded with respect to the number and grandeur of European cathedrals it can seem like a disappointment to visit a small one. Gionanni Evangelista is certainly not a disappointment but while impressive by any reasonable absolute standard may be challenged to distinguish itself to a more casual visitor such as myself.

Wonderful church with an open feel. Visited by the last pope and there is a large plaque celebrating this and a peaceful place. Fantastic wooden crucifix which is very old but somehow seemed modern. Amazing

A peaceful Church with wonderful paintings and sculptures. Better lighting inside the Duomo is required to view and appreciate the Masterpieces on display.

There are some extraordinary works by artists such as Perugino [1450 ca.-1523] ("The Ascension of Christ"), Bartolomeo della Gatta (1448-1502), Santi di Tito [1536-1603] ("The Doubting Thomas").

The masterpiece is “Il Volto Santo”(The Holy Face), an unusual carved wooden Crucifix of Carolingian origin made from a single walnut log between the 8 C and 9 C. It was restored between 1983 and 1989, and its polychrome finish was largely recovered.

During The Palio the Camponile was open to visit and it lives on in my memory and I was there at noon for The Angelus. The Team that ring the bells manually are a dedicated team (photo included)

There's a lovely Magdalen by Piero d F half way down the nave on the left, after a dreary high baroque Bishop's sepulchre or some such nonsense.
