Il Bandiaràc: difficili le pareti, insidiosa la cengia
5.0 of 5 bubblesSept 2023
Among the many opportunities offered by the surprising Conturines group, we certainly cannot forget the Pillars of Bandiaràc and the impressive Ledge of the same name, which crosses the southern side of the mountain for four kilometers and is the evocative backdrop to the book "Impossible" by Erri De Luca, a great writer and excellent mountaineer who has climbed all of these rugged peaks. The vertical walls of the pillars, presenting high level mountaineering difficulties, are obviously reserved for expert climbers, but no less demanding, if climbed in its entirety, the "cengione" reveals itself in its own way, because it is constantly very exposed and particularly insidious due of the crumbly surface and the large landslides that make the journey difficult and very risky even for the most expert mountaineers. I consider the pillars and the ledge to be inseparable and highly spectacular places, so much so that they deserve an independent page on TripAdvisor. The starting point for approaching them is, as always, the Capanna Alpina (see review), where the vehicle is parked. From here everyone will try their hand at it according to their ability after having scrupulously documented the characteristics of the chosen route and the state of the paths, in particular that of the ledge. It goes without saying that the walk requires great experience, optimal weather and dry surfaces, as well as adequate clothing, good mountain shoes and, if necessary, the necessary equipment.
