We spent a quiet afternoon strolling through the ancient town of Pistoia. Extremely well preserved ancient building without the crowds of Florence. If you need to unwind from the hectic hustle and bustle of the big name sights this is a lovely place to sit...More

We took a train to Pistoia and spent a pleasant few hours exploring the town. the heart of the town is the Piazza, the Cathedral and Duomo and the Baptistry. A very ancient town with it's own charm but without the hordes of tourists.

The piazza with Duomo, Baptistery and Palazzo Communale is stunning but unlike Florence and Pisa was almost empty of tourists. You can park around the Piazza Garibaldi and then have a 5-10 minute walk through the delights of the back street. This is definitely not...More

This is a must be seen place. A lot of tourist but impressive. Pity for the presence of the soldiers but so comprehensive nowadays.

Piazza del Duomo is located in the very centre of the historical part of Pistoia. It is a very nice square but very similar to many other squares you can find in historical Italian cities.

I am biased but i just love this Piazza. It hosts numerous events and a variety of local festivities and even when completely empty it has a special feel.

We were spending a few days in Lucca and decided to visit another Tuscan town and travelled to Pistoia by train. Well worth a visit since the architecture is most interesting particularly the Piazza del Duomo. It was market day but this simply added to...More

The bells ringing out every day over the piazza will forever remain in our memory. Market days in Pistoia (Wed & Sat) are a great way to experience Tuscan culture.
