Visited Paestum as part of a guided day trip from Sorrento. Much quieter than the more well known Pompei and Herculaneum and all the better for that! Excellent museum. There are a couple of restaurants and tourist shops nearby.

These Greek temples from the 6th century B.C. are well preserved. If you can hire a guide for a few hours to get real insights into the history. It's worth it. The temples are lit at night which makes for stunning views of the ruins....More

What a great day seeing the Greek temples in this fabulous area of Ancient Greece. We were here with virtually no crowded. It was a special day!

Less popular site than others in Italy making it a relaxing afternoon. We really enjoyed looking round the temples and other ruins, you also get into the museum on the same ticket. Easy walk from the train station, would recommend.

One of the most important sites of it's kind. Stunning monuments allowing us to go back in time. Would love to see it in the evening!

Consider these temple ruins more impressive than the Valley of Temples at Agrigento in Sicily. Don't often associate Greek ruins in Italy & quite "refreshing" after dominance of Roman ruins

This temple is not called temple of Poseidon or Neptune at all. It was wrongly named in the 18th century despite it was dedicated to Hera. The temple was built in the Doric order around 460–450 BC. Together with the other two temples it's one...More

Paestum. Originally a Greek Settlement with three magnificent temples dedicated to Neptune, Hera & Athena, there are also extensive ruins of the residential area, the public baths, the Forum, an amphitheatre. My son and I spent a good few hours tracking round and just enjoying...More

This temple is one of three grand, ancient temples. The three incredible temple ruins are surrounded by ancient Greek, Etruscan and Roman residence ruins. Plan on at least three hours for the outdoor ruins. This one was apparently mis-named as a temple to Neptune, it...More

Took the train down from Salerno (30minutes, € 2.90/person) and it was definitely worth it. The ruins are huge and in great shape and the truly amazing thing is that you can go right up and wander around in almost all of the structures. The...More

No. We went in the middle of May and there was no queue. A lot of agencies charge a lot to 'skip the line.' It is a waste of money. Wear good shoes, take water and see some of the best things that you will ever see.
