- good_antsDoha, Qatar644 contributionsGlorious vista!!What a climb; what a ridge line!! Seceda is a huge, hikers (and presumably skiers) dream with a variety of paths that will lead you up to this surreal ridge. Endless photo ops await once you make it to any of the spots on the Seceda ridge. Warning: temperatures, high winds, and other weather are no joke up here!! Bring layers; stay alert!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 June 2024
- Aussie_2012Melbourne, Australia962 contributionsWhat amazing viewsWhat amazing views. The morning isn't the greatest for those instagram shots however it it still spectacular and well worth the visit. There are many trails around but if you are limited for time then just take the cable car to the top and there is a small loop track that offers incredible views.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 August 2024
- Jim822 contributionsBeautiful SceneSeceda is one of the mountains at Val Gardena. It is covered by the Dolomites Super pass (62 EUR for a single day), which covers many of the lift and gondola in the Val Gardena region. If you plan to explore the Seceda areas and use the lift, you may consider to arrive earlier, as all the parking of the town Ortisei, which is the base of the many lifts, can be gone by noon time. During the summer time, only a limited number of lifts are operating. You may try the gondola to Seceda, to Mont Seuc, and the cable car to Chalet Resciesa. The photo shoot are pretty at a good day.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 September 2024

You saw the photos. Well seeing it in person, even on a cloudy day, takes your breath away. The beauty of the green grass and wildflowers around it, juxtaposed with the bizarre look of it resembling a torn gash in the ground -- they makes it appear like something out of this world. Walks around the area are long but not very strenuous. Can get busy.

We went to the lifts at Ortisei early in the morning (09:00). We were the first to arrive at Seceda in a day with cold and clouds.
Such a wonderful view! Very nice 360 degrees views of all the peaks around. The lifts were 35euros round trip for each person.
Very safe, very organized, very clean!
A beautiful experience overall!

Many people post videos and pictures saying, it doesn't do justice to what it is really like. That is so true. The price of the cable cars up seems high, until you realise that there is a whole day's worth of things to see and do.
Hiking can be easy or a bit more challenging, but always on good paths.
We want to go again and hike over and go down Col Raiser.

Seceda is a stunning place, and a must do if you are in this part of the Dolomites. I used the gondola from Ortisei, then the cable car to the top. It's not cheap at 30 euros one way, but worth it as the views from the top are fantastic and there are lots of walking paths in the area. I walked down to the Col Raiser lift, which was a relatively easy 3 and a half hour walk.
If you are considering this type of walking holiday i.e. walking from one lift to another, it's a lot cheaper getting the Val Gardena pass. It costs 135 euros for 6 consecutive days so makes it a lot cheaper, and means you don't need to queue every day to get a ticket.

Today I had a terrible experience at the Seceda cable car. I was treated very badly by a rude employee. I have some friends that went there a couple of years ago and they told me that the cable car makes a stop in the middle, and that I shouldn't get off there and stay on the car to go all the way up. But when I stayed on the car on the first stop, I realized that the cable car was going down instead of continuing to go up. So when I went down I stayed at the car to go up again. That was when the employee told I should get off the car and leave the place. I asked if I could come in again if I went out and he said yes. But my ticket didn't allow me go in again. I explained him that I didn't get off the car in the middle station because I thought I should stay there to go to the highest part. But he was very unpolite to me, saying that the ticket was supposed to be used only one time. But why would I go down only to imidiately go up again in the first place? It was an honest mistake. And it was not like the place was crowded. It was quite the opposite, it was empty since it was around 4 p.m. So it wouldn't be so hard to let me go up again since I paid a very expensive price to go all the way up and down. Eventually, the employee talked to another guy, who let me go up. But not without making me cry because of the disrespectful way I was treated. I cried all the way up, which ruined the trip for me. I was alone there and I'm not fluent in English. Besides, there wasn't any sign saying there was another cable car to get to the highest part of the mountain. I think they should treat tourists better since we spend a lot of money there. All I wanted was to be treated with respect! I already travelled to 14 countries and this never happened to me before. A terrible experience.

Out of the three mountains in OTC I would consider this as one of the best. If you plan to hike on a mountain by foot, or if you plan to go at the top on the cable car, I would always recommend this particular mountain.
The views at the top is one of the best that you can find. The walking trails are also so well defined that it is really comfortable and convenient for any and everyone to hike.
I saw small kids too hiking on this mountain. Furthermore, there are many small cafés who provide breakfast and lunch and can keep you well hydrated.
You can easily spend an entire day on this mountain

Worrh coming! If you dont want to hike up the hill, pay for the two cable cars that will get you to the top. Then you can simply only admire the views and take a small hike around the area without going up or down. We spent here around two hours, walking towards the rock formation and back. The day we came was raining in the morning and the rock formations were covered in clouds, but it was very special. I would say better tahn if you see it with clear sky. If it rains before you go, be aware ans the path will be pretty muddy.

The overall scenery is amazing! But keep in mind that the cable car shut down from October 10th and you can only go to the top on foot or by bike. It usually takes 3 hours to go up to the top. I suggest park your car near Apartment Puntedla. It will save lots of time compared to trekking from the start point of the cable car.

The parking staff are scammers. They took the money for parking in cash even though I had paid by card a few minutes earlier. They didn't give me any receipt. They told me to write an e-mail asking for a refund of the wrongly collected money. He doesn't reply to emails. Be careful!!!!!

Hi,
How far of a walk/hike is it from the cable care to the iconic edge view? I recently had knee surgery and just seeing if it's too difficult. Thanks!
Written 17 August 2024
From cable car station on the mountain, you can see the edge view just 10 mins walk, but if you want to see more from the edge, it takes about 30-45 mins

Hi, if I buy the Seceda cable car tickets online now in August, are they still valid in September? There is no such information on their website, the duration or the validity of the tickets.
Thanks so much!

Quindi a destra (20A).

Resti a casa.

Stiamo pensando di partire i giorni tra l'11 e il 15 ottobre. Mi confermate che è aperto in quei giorni? E se è possibile, potreste darmi dei consigli su una vacanza lì? Alloggeremo in un appartamento a Ortisei.
Grazie in anticipo.

Ciao a tutti,
Grazie a chi vorrà aiutarmi.

Hello all, going to visit 3 - 7 May, seems the cable car is closed during that time. Wondering any other way up there? Where's the best start point with minimum walking? Possible to drive up to a certain spot and walk up to it? Grateful for any suggestions. Thank you in advance.
