Station is nice and clean, easily accessible for hotels in the town and ideally placed as a base to explore Tuscany.
Trains were frequent and ran to time.
Unfortunately we found the ticket machines tough to use, even when following in English!
There was not a ticket office that we could use.
Suggest tickets are bought on line and then it would all be easy.

Nice little station but overwhelmed by the shear number of people heading towards Florence, important to get near the doors and rush on or there will be no seats left.

Ticket machines in several languages but don’t make it clear what to do to purchase tickets. We managed eventually.
Trains very punctual and double deckers give a great view across the countryside.
Trains clean but not all screens working that tell you upcoming stops, difficult if you don’t know the area.
Please be aware of groups of young African men, spread out in different carriages but all part of a team looking for trouble, who made us uncomfortable and accused us of disrespecting them! Watch your bags at all times.
A police presence would give comfort to visitors and locals at the station and on the trains. We heard that solo locals do not use the trains at night. ALL TAKE CARE.

We took the train from Montecatini Terme to Florence. The train was about 20 minutes late and we had some trouble buying tickets at the machines (we don't speak Italian very well) but another commuter helped us out. The train was very quiet and a smooth ride.

We were often at this station as we traveled quite extensively, very easy to get the tickets from automated machine and the trains were always punctual.

Train station is easy to find and the times of trains are very frequent, better than the UK. The seating on the trains are spacious especially if you have long legs

We traveled by train to Florence and to Pastoria on two day trips. Much easier than driving and was affordable. Easy to get the tickets.

you can buy your ticket on a vending machine and it has to be validated onsite before boarding the train. Plataform departure signs are above each doorways for directions. Trains run usually ontime. Easy to use.

I got to the station at 6:30am for a 6:55 train which did not come. At 7:15 I went to the ticket window and asked about the train and was told it wasn’t coming and to take a different train to Lucca which was further north than my original destination which was to Pisa to then get to civitavecchia. So he gave me a new ticket, I had to wait another 45 minutes and went to Lucca. When I got there I went to the ticket window to ask about the train to Pisa céntrale I was told that THAT train already came and I need to purchase a ticket for $30extra euros to Florence and then go from there to civitavecchia. When I got to Florence the train was late for almost 2 hours. Even the train drivers/conductors where stuck waiting along with the passengers.
I thought I was going to get to my cruise ship early with lots of time to play and relax and instead was so stressed and barely made it to the ship around 3:15, and it was leaving at 4pm!! All of those hours wasted and stressed out waiting endlessly. Be warned....

That is up to you, but I do not know how you would attach it!
There are no seatbelts on the train.

Hello, just found out both Montecatini Terme and Centro stations are closed today until september. Anyone going from Pisa Airport to Montecatini by train these coming weeks? Our hotel is near Montecatini centro station actually but now the Hotel recommends to take train to Pistoia and take bus to Montecatini 😞 This will take so long on the road..
Anyone care to share their experience? Thanks
Bonjour !
Merci d'avance :)

We are staying in the Montebello Hotel. Can anyone tell me how far the walk is to the train station? Did anyone take a train to Rome? Would it be best to purchase train tickets beforehand or it doesn't matter? I will welcome any advice or tips. Thank you.

We are staying at Hotel La Pia which is near the Palais de Congress and taking a train from Florence to Montecatini. Am I correct from your review that we need to go to the Stazione Montecatini Centro?

I am sorry this question was not sent to my email & im just seeing it now! I am not familiar with either of the locations you mentioned but the stazione- if close to your location - is the train we took and was very convenient. Have a great time!! (If you have not already gone)

Andy , you can either purchase tickets for the day you want to travel in advance from local shops like tobacconists but it's just as easy to use the machines at the station. They display in various languages and are easy to use. Only issue is there was a queue to use them just before the train arrived so get to the station a little early or buy in advance. Don't forget to validate (time/day stamp in one of the many machines) at the station of departure.
