The park is absolutely beautiful! We were lucky to see a wedding there which just added to the ambiance. Although the park is clearly past its glory days With lots of the other Terme buildings looking long closed and abandoned, it is still a magical and peaceful place.

Beautiful building and well worth a visit and a coffee or drink in the fabulous bar/cafe. Only issue is lack of information on how and when you can access the thermal waters .. we wandered around and eventually came back to the ticket desk to be told only people with doctors prescription could access the waters ??

This is a lovely oasis in an otherwise nondescript town. Well maintained grounds and impressive buildings, some of which have seen better days. A pretty place to explore and have a coffee before hopping on the funicular.

This is the main park that the Terme is located in.
A pleasant stroll in the shade of the trees.
There is also a drinking water tap located on the east side of the park

Just to clarify all of the pictures here are of the Terme Tettucio, which is located in the Parco delle Terme di Montecatini.
As you walk from the centre of Montecatini you'll pass by the Terme Excelsior which is abandoned but you can see into the beautiful circular thermal waters room, then by the Terme Leopoldine and Grocco which are both surrounded by protective coverings.
The Terme Tettucio is at the top of the 'hill' and is absolutely stunning. The central courtyard is partly open, with fountains, pools, and lovely gardens surrounding the buildings. They hold regular concerts and there is an annual opera festival - throughout June. and the setting and acoustics are amazing.
There is a bar/restaurant with a dramatic high ceiling and painted walls, serving a range of chilled and hot drinks and snacks. The house prosecco is very drinkable.
There is also a stunning library/book shop that displays art works that are also for sale.
Entry is 6Euro which goes to fund preservation and restoration. You are not able to drink the waters unless you have a doctor's letter, perhaps because one of the water sources has a laxative effect !
The buildings are extensive and it's really interesting to wander round and imagine them in their heyday. We were a couple and there were only about 6-8 other people there on our visit in mid-june.
If this were anywhere else in Italy, like Florence, Pisa or Lucca, it would be absolutely overrun with visitors.

What a different experience! You escape the real world and go back in time sipping Prosecco and admiring the beautiful walls and floors and statues. So tranquil and well worth the 6€ entrance fee. There is a gift shop and a beauty shop where you can purchase herbal remedies and natural cosmetics.
